Holy shit. I actually feel well-rested today. My muscles aren't sore. My office is a reasonable temperature and my work is cooperating. Waiting for the other shoe to drop I guess
This trailer dropped today, and I have never wanted to see a film so badly :) youtu.be/UVAki9SGrlg?...
How the fuck do people afford multiple fursuits at $9-12,000 USD each? Christ maybe if I'd had my ADHD diagnosed when I was younger I might have been able to get a career where people are actually paid well.
Canadians, please stop buying food at Tim Hortons. Every Loonie and Twonie spent there is helping to find the ongoing trans genocide. ca.news.yahoo.com/funding-tran...
@torideer.bsky.social I understand now why it's nice to be a deer
Deeply upsetting and also completely unsurprising to see that my abusive graduate school advisor, who caused me to throw out my plans for a PhD and who put me off academia forever, is in a cushy position at the fucking Smithsonian. At least he won't have any graduate students there to abuse I guess.
I don't know how long I have left on this rock, and I certainly can't predict the future, but here's hoping for many more years, and here's hoping that when they finally run out, I will have had a net positive impact on the world and the people in it. Birdmom loves you.
Furry artists: You know that sockeye salmon only turn that color at the very end of their lives when they're about to die, right? Just before they slowly start rotting and looking like decayed zombies? This will NEVER not be weird to me. This is what they look like for all but the end of their life
Came home yesterday to find this little creature sunning themself on the lawn in front of our window
Some of the structures for Cousteau's Conshelf 2, including the submersible hanger, are still there, off the coast of Sudan in the Red Sea
Habs were were everywhere. Many universities had their own habitats, including my alma mater, Memorial University of Newfoundland. LORA 1 sat on the bottom of Conception Bay and even some of my undergrad professors worked in it. Until recently (~20 years ago) it was still behind the engineering bldg
The US government had another habitat, Tektite, an ambitious program which was aimed largely at scientists as opposed to navy research. Tektite was deployed in the US Virgin islands
Then there were the habitats of the US Navy's 'Man in the Sea' program, Sealab 1, 2 and 3
There were SO MANY underwater habitats in the 1960s and 1970s. People are nominally familiar with submersibles thanks to the famous ones like Alvin, Mirs 1 and 2 and Nautile (and Titan lol). But it seems like everyone had one back then. Cousteau had three of them; Conshelf I, II and III
Yeah, that checks out. You and I have talked extensively about this stuff. Maybe we need matching T-shirts
First of my many outfits for Furality has been completed. Well. The basic stuff anyways; still need to add audiolink, emissions and decals. The colour palette for this year's theme is a lot of fun!
They were able to talk with Trieste using acoustic comms at 36,000ft deep with 1960 technology. Think about this and then remember that Stockton Rush opted to use a janky text message system instead for Titan at Oceangate.
I half-remembered this pick-up line for a shark furry from a piece of art I saw some time ago, and decided I needed to add to my collection of ridiculous tank tops for this avatar
