Even though I’m a Pompey (Portsmouth) fan you should definitely pick Brighton. The local Brighton newspaper The Argus carries so many stories like this, so having the team being nicknamed The Seagulls is perfect. They are also building the first specifically women’s football stadium in Europe.

My first Elephant Hawk-moth from a Chi Nats mothing morning in Bosham today. As it was windy last night there weren’t great expectations but this was the highlight of some interesting moths. #teammoth
First time trying #Chichester new music venue Upstairs at Raps. I knew Jess Hayes from Connolly Hayes would be good and she was fantastic. Joined by her blues rock legend mum Val for several songs as well. With great sound in a lovely intimate setting this is a great addition to the city!

A couple of Blues & a couple of Skippers from the last couple of days on the South Downs in West Sussex. Silver-studded Blue was a new one for me.
It’s only relatively recently that they stopped awarding an actual cap per game, so 20th century footballers absolutely would have had a room full of caps.
Another superb evenings entertainment at Fort Cumberland in Portsmouth. Pizza, sunset, a great host, and three top notch comedians. Headliner was the excellent @lauralexx.bsky.social It was our first time seeing her live and we will definitely be booking tickets for her tour later this year!

Yesterday was a beautiful evening to go on the Seal Safari cruise in Chichester Harbour. About 30 Grey & Common Seals seen. Some nice views of Little Terns and 3 Common Scoters - unusual in the harbour, especially in June! First time I’ve done the Seal trip, but I’d highly recommend it!

Our annual Chichester RSPB Nightjar walk at Lavington Common was a great success last night. Very cooperative Tree Pipit & Dartford Warbler, lots of Nightjar activity, and even a fly over Woodcock - the first one we’ve had on this walk for several years. #birds #ukbirding
Lovely shot Colin, such a cute lemon colour. I didn’t manage to get the fledglings in the garden but I did get one of the absolutely battered parents. With the heat last week and wind & rain this week they have been working extra hard!
Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BorrowedPlaces, birds using human-made or unexpected structures. This Australian King Parrot was checking out the merchandise in the gift shop.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #NegativeSpace so here are a couple of phone camera shots of Brent Geese that I grabbed when they flew over head and I was pretty pleased with. I see Spitfires from Goodwood fly over most days and that’s what the 2nd photo reminds me of.
A fascinating predator v predator struggle in the conservatory this evening as this False Widow successfully captured a Common Bluet. Gruesome, but extremely interesting to observe.
