As of 12pm, the spring hunting season 2026 is now finally closed and shooting is no longer permitted. Any hunting activity observed in the coming days should be reported to BirdLife Malta on 21347645 (office hours) or 79255697 (outside office hours), or to the Police on 119 indicating the location.
Today week, BirdLife Malta took part in the launch of this year’s Islands Cleanup campaign at Pretty Bay, Birżebbuġa, where NGOs & individuals joined cleanups at sea & on land. 50kg of waste was collected, separated & processed correctly. Keeping Malta’s environment clean is a shared responsibility.

An adult Sabine’s Gull in winter plumage was discovered last week at an undisclosed site by a keen BLM birder. The bird later moved to Salina Nature Reserve. This discovery marks the 1st confirmed record of this species for the Maltese Islands.It is an exceptionally rare visitor to the Mediterranean
