I enjoy getting around by bike, mountain biking, native plants, fruit and vegetable gardening, dogs, snakes, alt-rock (especially from the '90s), and anything else that is good! Columbus, GA
Went over the new Gordie Howe bridge today. Even saw people walking and biking on the pedestrian path. Pretty impressive!
Does this seem like a good vehicle for a teenager (or anyone for that matter) to be driving?
I guess it's okay to just go around mail vehicles now if the oncoming person is on a bike...
My Halberd-Leaved Rosemallow (Hibiscus laevis) is a-bloomin'. #nativeplants #georgianativeplants
Ugh, he is too cute. Happy Birthday, Jack! He's just about a month older than my dog (Jimi). Where does the time go?!
I know HAWK signals can be confusing to people, but when it's a solid red light it should be pretty easy to understand.
We had our first Porchfest here in our downtown historic district yesterday. Lots of great music, and the streets were mostly closed off to cars which made things so much better!
The talk about horsepower was frankly very misguided. 250w may be okay in places that are dense and have complete separated and safe networks, but that isn't most of the U.S.
Is it wrong I was excited to be able to report my first bike lane blocker to @bikelaneuprising.bsky.social today while in Atlanta? 😛
This is the response I got from the assistant director of engineering here after I asked about a new bike lane that is unprotected. Also, this road didn't have street parking before and they added it. The only good thing is there was a travel lane reduction.
Few things are as depressing as looking at roads before and after they were widened and reading about how much it cost to make them worse. (Read ALTs for details)
I got to test out my rain jacket for the last 5 minutes of my ride today. Turns out it works! 😎
Ours turned into a classic local restaurant. And yes, you can sit and eat inside the bus.
I had to pick up something in town today and I decided it would also be a good opportunity to liberate some trees from invasive English Ivy in one of our parks.
We got our once every few years snow today (although it also snowed last year :P). This time it rained beforehand so when it snowed it stuck to the trees which is always kinda cool.
Atlanta's sidewalks would make for a great urban mountain bike course. That's probably not a good thing, but I like to think positively. 😛
