To be entirely fair to ChatGPT it sounds like this guy could've hypothetically fucked himself just as bad with a normal cloud service app But somehow i am unsurprised by the overlap of AI user and zero consideration of why you shouldn't toggle a setting like that without backing up first

But in August, I temporarily disabled the ‘data consent’ option because I wanted to see whether I would still have access to all of the model’s functions if I did not provide OpenAI with my data. At that moment, all of my chats were permanently deleted and the project folders were emptied — two years of carefully structured academic work disappeared. No warning appeared. There was no undo option. Just a blank page. Fortunately, I had saved partial copies of some conversations and materials, but large parts of my work were lost forever.

But congrats on your gotcha on a 4 month old joke reply. I don't know how you could link a post to debunk someone saying Frank felt like more of a creative project than modern LLMs, and miss that the post says modern AI no longer needing that creative thinking was the biggest reason it shut down.

I must have one of the longest-running GPT chatbots in existence, by now. Possibly the longest-running one?

I like doing new things. I like hacking through uncharted wilderness. The world of GPT chatbots has long since ceased to provide this kind of value to me.

I want to cede this ground to the LLaMA techbros and the prompt engineers. It is not my wilderness anymore.

I miss wilderness. Maybe I will find a new patch of it, in some new place, that no one cares about yet.

Part of it is actually more cost Like I drive an A platform car and feel perfectly safe in it. Here's the aftermath of a car like mine after a 40mph impact with a semi. But it cost the same as a small SUV to makenit that way, and being cheaper is supposed to be a selling point of small cars

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced a ban on asylum seekers using taxis for most medical journeys.

Under the new rules, taxi use for medical travel will be restricted to exceptional, evidence-based cases, including physical disability, pregnancy, or serious illness.

Such journeys will now require direct Home Office approval.

This policy change follows a recent BBC investigation that revealed "widespread" taxi use by asylum seekers, prompting a Home Office review of transport arrangements.

All service providers are required to stop using taxis for these medical journeys from February.

It's wild to me that people specifically downplay the risks because it's more likely to be asymptomatic/flu like than leave you bedridden, but are freaking out about the idea RFK might take ex, the polio vaccine because like... that ALSO describes polio without a vaccination.

Polio, short for poliomyelitis, is an infectious disease that is caused and transmitted by a virus called the poliovirus. One of the severe symptoms of polio is paralysis and the disease is therefore also known as "infantile paralysis". The name poliomyelitis is derived from Greek and translates to gray (polios) marrow (myelon), which refers to the tissue in the center of the spinal cord, which when affected causes paralysis. Paralyzed limbs such as arms or legs waste away over time which is the cause of deformed child legs most commonly being associated with the disease polio.

The symptoms vary widely between patients. Most infections do not lead to any symptoms, but others suffer terribly and for some it leads to death. Between 1 in 50 and 1 in 500 infections result in paralysis, among people who have not been vaccinated.2

The majority of infections (72%) do not lead to any symptoms. About a quarter of cases (24%) result in "abortive" poliomyelitis which leads to nonspecific symptoms for a few days, such as a fever or a cold, and 1-5% of cases lead to "non-paralytic aseptic meningitis", in which the patient suffers from stiff limbs for up to 10 days. 3
