I'm volunteering at my daughter's summer camp this week. There's a tradition here where most staff choose a "camp name" that everyone calls them Several of them did not believe that Björn is my real name, because it's apparently too cool of a Viking name and it surely must be the camp name I chose.
This island on Shoal Lake in Ontario looks like the subject of a Group of Seven painting
Happy Independence Day to my American friends. You freed yourselves from the tyranny of cask ales, Sunday roasts at the pub, and scones with clotted cream and strawberries. Well done. That would have been awful. Close call. 😐
The Cabo Verde - Argentina game yesterday was probably the most exciting soccer game I've ever seen. Probably the best sportsing match I've ever seen. The Cabo Verdean team was incredible and should be amazingly proud. Imagine if they had actually won and caused the biggest upset in sports history!
Even though school only ended yesterday, this is already my kids today
As a proudly cheap Winnipegger, Bike to Work Day warms my soul with all of the free stuff. It's also just a fun morning riding with friends, and running into even more friends. 24 pit stops this year!
If anyone is wondering, a baguette fits perfectly in your backpack waterbottle pouch. Au fait, j'adore le Québec.

One of my favourite things to post about is the value of community in my life. Tonight I went with some friends from my neighbourhood to X-Cues to join the Winnipeg Beer Choir's Hal-ALE-lujah Chorus. A group of pros led a bunch of amateurs singing selections from Handel's Messiah, including the...
Why am I not seeing this all over Canadian news and social media Artemis II is launching in 3 minutes with Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen on board! They're going to orbit the moon for the first time since 1972! www.youtube.com/live/WcSnjRC...
I think @chrishallbeck.bsky.social is on to something here. This would totally work as a marketing campaign.

I don't normally plug companies at random, but it occurred to me today that I've had these boots for 30 years, and they are still in amazing condition. Warm down to -60°C, soft grips that work great on ice, and it's only now, after 30 years, that I had to replace the felt liners. Acton boots FTW!
