Completed 44 miles in mud and humidity this weekend at Core4 in Iowa City. Five months post prostatectomy for cancer. Everyone’s experience is different but for me joy on the bike is possible again. 🙂
Been seeing these PSAs from the City of Chicago lately. It seems that the tragic death of Riley O'Neil has reawakened many to the risks posed by distracted drivers. But this ad campaign must not take the place of a roadway infrastructure built with cycling safety in mind.
My law partner Jim Freeman was tenting at the RAGBRAI expo over the weekend. 🙂🚴
I was in Toronto over the weekend. Great city. I was thrilled to see FedEx delivering by bicycle. Can we have this in Chicago please!?
Earlier this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I had my prostate surgically removed on march 13th. Today was my first day back on my bike. I felt alright. It’s such a relief to know that I can ride again.
Strong turnout for the Chicago ICE Out ride and memorial for Alex Pretti and Renee Goode. Very peaceful.
This is from Saturday. Vehicles parked at the start/end of protected bike lanes are a big problem for riders. I politely brought this to the driver’s attention but he was a complete jerk about it. He refused to move the vehicle.
The jackass in the Jeep blew the stop sign & hit my client hard. We who bike regularly in the City are constantly anticipating what drivers will do in a given moment. The safest course at a four way stop intersection is to assume a driver will run the stop sign. So many drivers are such a menace.
Five days or so after the snow fall and the protected bike lanes on Milwaukee and on Kinzie are not yet cleared. They were very icy and treacherous this am. It feels like the city of Chicago’s message to cyclists this week has been, “Screw you!”
This morning’s bike commute felt sketchier than yesterday’s. The bike lanes are a mess, very icy. Avoid. On a plus note, I saw many more people on bikes and e-scooters than I have on past similar days. People clearly rely on micro mobility now, even in the winter.
Treacherous biking out there this morning. Side streets in Logan are very icy. Main streets are clear. Protected bike lanes on Milwaukee are impassable. Careful out there. Ride with the cars and make sure you can been seen!
I really don't like the term "micromobility" to reference electric scooters, one-wheeled devices, ebikes, etc. It is too technocratic. How about Personal Electric Vehicles, Personal EVs, PEVs?
I’m so humbled that someone enjoyed our artwork enough to get it tattooed. We’re all about spreading the joy of cycling. 😊🙏🏼
Great news for people who bike in Chicago! The IL Supreme Court denied the City of Chicago's effort to overturn our 2022 verdict against the City for failing to maintain a protected bike lane which resulted in serious injuries for our client. Trying to exit the bike lane blocked by a stopped bus,
Got to enjoy car free Milwaukee Avenue riding back from Bike The Drive. ❤️
Risky? Yes. Impressive skill? Also, yes. He did this through wicker park on Milwaukee. It was pretty nuts.
I had a really nice time gravel racing in Iowa City this weekend. Core4 is the race. It’s well organized and a lot of fun. Hot though. Strong recommend.
Damn, read the room Thunderbirds. This doesn't feel like the time.
Tip: If someone, even a bike shop, sells you a bike/ebike that is missing a vital piece, like the key for the ebike battery, this is a red flag that the bike is stolen and that you should not buy it. (Yeah, this happened.)
Insane experience: Biking to work in Dearborn bike lane. Heavy car traffic. Several bikers behind me when 2 Chicago police cars, w/ lights & sirens, come speeding at me in the protected bike lane! Had to jump the curb to avoid. Whatever the emergency was was it worth putting more lives at risk?
Getting ready to watch some bike racing. If you’re near Fulton market come say hi.
