I love being nonbinary and floating across the gender spectrum. I feel more confident in myself and my body now - and I also love GDQ for giving me the space I so desperately needed to continue my journey of self-discovery. Two years ago I NEVER would have worn my fits from this last week!
These days I put a lot of effort into my outfits because GDQ is the one place I can dress up, experiment, and feel completely safe to do so I'm still sorting out gender expression. Turns out when you've historically presented as femme it's REAL hard to boymode, but I felt comfortable enough to try
I wasn't happy. It felt miserable. So after I got back my goal was to never feel like that again - so I got to work on my closet and prepped for SGDQ. It was better! I played with color and layers and leaned into a Summer Camp vibe, which helped.
My first GDQ was AGDQ 2024 (the first time we set foot in that fuckass hotel in Pittsburgh.) I was there for only a part of the week and was home for finale and felt overwhelmed with emotion - one of which was insecurity. So many people had put their best looks on and I felt grungy in comparison.
Every time I go to a GDQ I come out of it feeling so awed and inspired. The love is abound - for the hobby, for each other, for the good that we put into the world... it's what keeps me coming back. But it's also nonbinary day, so here's a bit about how GDQ has helped me with my gender expression.
🎵 It's the final fit check 🎵 (do do do do, do do do do do) I'll be wandering the floor and at the ASA Table until 3:30! If we haven't taken a selfie yet NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! HAPPY FINALE DAY
Hella Late Day 6 fit check but I've been dying to wear this dress for a million years and I'm so glad I got the chance to today! 💜
Fit check for day 4??? Repping ASA with pride (and if you missed the meetup, you missed a great time)
Hey! Ho! Let's grow! Repping some Stardew ahead of Mel and Grace's run NEXT on GDQ!
Today's fit check! I was tabling for ASA earlier today and I'll be out and about later (ya girl has to lay the fuck down) Also, the hair day I'm having today? STELLAR
This is me watching everyone arrive early for SGDQ. (I get in on Saturday)
BASEBALL!!! (ft. @carrarium.bsky.social and her lovely partner who joined me for my first in-person baseball game in roughly 20 years 💜) GO BLUE JAYS!
Give the news today, I'm going to share my favorite panels from Persepolis again. To say that I am devastated is an understatement. Read "Persepolis," if you haven't. Read her edited comic anthology "Woman, Life, Freedom." No one is free until we are all free. We'll miss you, Marjane.
Your 30s really are for getting into birds I guess
It genuinely changed my brain chemistry and every time I revisit it I find something new and beautiful about it! I even keep a list of quotes on my phone
You have three guesses for what I'm listening to and the first two don't count 🥰
Motivational mice in Cambridge, MA, I owe you my life
Noah Kahan, the man that you are, you're so goddamn real for this
It is done. I sleep for One William Years.
Finals are going great thanks for asking
Excerpt was so good I bought the book
Hi it (was) Indie Bookstore day, so I bought a small haul of books from a small collection of indie bookstores around Boston! Support your local bookstores whenever you can! And if you don't want to commit to buying a book... (say it with me everyone) Borrow it from your local library!
Hi! It's your (2nd) favorite internet librarian here to talk about libraries! ✨ IT'S NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK ✨ Every April the ALA celebrates libraries, their workers, the patrons, and all things library. This year's theme is "Find Your Joy" inspired by @mychal3ts.bsky.social and his Library Joy 💖
Everyone should wish Peanut a happy birthday, he's 17 years old today 🎉
After 90+ hours I have finally, FINALLY, finished Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Genuinely, what an absolutely beautiful game. It's a heavy contender for my favorite Dragon Age game ever, I loved it so much. Goodness gracious. I need to go lay down.
