Chilling out, listening to the new John Carpenter album and working on a new abstract, “Opium” - here are the first two stages. I’m going to finish it with a splash of bright, poppy red.
All orders for signed copies of The Essential Guide to Comic Book Lettering will now ship with sticker pack V2! blambot.com/products/the...
Designed some quick hang tags for my guitar case handles. Just for quick reference of which guitars are in which cases. Ordered a bunch of badge holders/lanyards (which I'll have to shorten).
Tomorrow, Friday, August 7th, I'll be walking around at Terrificon in CT. I'll have a pocket full of free Blambot enamel pins! If you're there, stop me and say hi!
I am honored to announce that in cooperation with the Toth family, I will be working on the official Alex Toth typeface in the coming months. The plan is for this to be a commercially available font via the official Toth estate. Stay tuned for updates.
Gave this canvas a textured golden yellow base coat last week. Listening to Flea’s new jazz album and getting back to work on it. I have a vague plan.
First SFX of the day. Two big dummies smacking each other around. (LOBO #7)
The back of my old lapboard (from college?) was kind of ratty, so I bought a bunch of sticker packs on Etsy…

Out for some grooves today is “Shemp,” a limited edition Fender Custom Shop 1961 “Wildwood 10” Stratocaster with a roasted neck. Tone for days! When I was a teen, I named my very first student-level sunburst Strat, “Shemp”. That one was traded away 30 years ago, but this guy carries on the tradition
“Blues in A” —last week I painted this abstract. After about 2 hours of work, I decided it was terrible and I was going to throw it away. The next day, on impulse I just started adding new shapes to it and it ended up being one of my favorite paintings so far. Acrylic on 16”x20” canvas.
I’ve seen this Marvel cookbook recipe making the rounds and this is actually Polish galumbkis. (Piekos is Polish, BTW). My dad made these all of the time when I was a kid. They’re one of my favorite comfort foods.
Well, the Eisner Awards are Friday night and I'm nominated for the 2026 Eisner for Best Lettering. It's an honor of course, but my money is on Janice Chiang. For those who voted for me, thanks so much! Sincerely! (And for those who voted for Janice, you made the right call.) :)
