Why do I even bother trying to talk to liberals?

My post: OK, but best case scenario is what? We get another New Deal style set of laws enacted? Because as good as that was (and it was the best deal the working class ever got... as long as you were white) that deal really only worked until 1980. 35 years it took for the ruling class to claw back the benefits it gave away. So we got better conditions for about one generation and that took the entirety of the labor movement with the socialists, and communist parties working together to get that. And they had to literally threaten FDR with a 1917 Russian style revolution to get it.

I don't think it's possible to achieve that kind of groundswell and keep it going forever. The rich can sit back, wait, and then start paying off people again. The goal should be to prevent the rich from having the power to do that. But that's going to take a complete reorganization of our politics and economy.

Their response: Best case scenario is you get a Mamdani, an AOC, a Sanders.
