A Pileated woodpecker just flew through our backyard and landed - briefly- in our oak tree. Always good to see one!

We went kayak fishing today. I caught a nice, roughly 12" bass. The photos could have been better BUT there was a lot going on so this is the best I've got, LOL. I also got a little bluegill. No keepers / eating fish today.

We've got pounds of chanterelles, just the beginning, and the first flush of COW for the year, a beautiful L. cincinnatus. Of course we had to use Forager Chef's recipe for chicken fried chicken of the woods. Yum!

Our little orchard orb weaver spider has moved several feet down, but she's still in our rhododendrons. And she's waaaayyyy bigger than she was. Maybe now I can finish pruning the top of that bush ... 🤣🤣 #spider #nature #photography

Butterfly Kiss 🦋 💋 Milkweed simple syrup, vodka & club soda as a topper. It's very floral & sweet - I'm not overly tolerant of sweet, so for me it's a bit too sweet, I also think it needs a bit more balance (it doesn't follow the cocktail rules in that it's missing a bitter/sour component).

Great haul today! All except the morchella morels were found around our home. We've pivoted on dinner - we were having a steak anyway, but instead of the tomato and vinaigrette dressing, we will now season the steak
