Today's guitar belongs to a dear friend who has kindly let me borrow it for a few days. It's a 1930’s Epiphone Masterbilt Apollo which his dad played in dance bands during the 30s, 40s and so on. If wood could talk - imagine the stories this guitar could tell. #guitarsky #guitar #epiphonemasterbilt

Epiphone Masterbilt Apollo from the 1930s. Not all parts are original as some have been lost over time. The bridge, tailpiece and scratchplate have been replaced.

The back is full of bumps and marks. It's an instrument that's been well played, and well loved.

I wonder what the significance of the 184 is?

Todays guitar tweaks. Series/Parallel switching for humbuckers. A 4PDT mini toggle and an hour or so with a soldering iron is all it took. Why do it? Why not? Parallel mode is more than coil split so it's an interesting option to have. #guitar #guitarwiring #differentsounds

The mini toggle switch in place in my Harley Benton Custom 24 kit guitar. The pickups are Artec humbuckers.

Thinking that speedknobs might look better than the F*nd*r style knobs.

Today's project : my Jet JS300 rebuild. New Alnico5 pickups, new pots, rewired fully, new bridge, new scratchplate, full setup on new strings. It's playing like butter & sounding fabulous. As good as anything from that lawfare firm!

Jet JS300 Str*t like guitar. Customised and made perfect.

My 'tron equipped Strat. OK, it's in the bridge and not neck position. I've had various humbuckers, P90s in this guitar and I've settled on this el cheapo from eBay Filter'tron. It sounds great.

Jet JS400. How it was when I bought it. In bits, poorly painted, needing TLC.

Part way through my modification/restoration. Rubbed down and ready for a respray.

Jet JS400 mk1. My first version of this. Rebuilt to be a Stratocaster but with a Cornell mid-boost circuit under the pickguard. After building this I realised that I didn't really need another Strat (I've got others) so I changed it to the mk2 version.

Jet JS400 mk2. One humbucker, one volume, one tone. What more do you need? I call this my "Strat Junior" in homage to the Gibson Junior guitars. It's now a great 'grab it and play' guitar. No frills, nothing fancy. This is how it will stay for a while. Mind you, I've got a hankering to swap the humbucker for a Filter'tron....

Victoria Derbyshire's first post about the murder of Alex Pretti by ICE. Look at her last line - "believe what you see". Is that an encouragement for us all to disbelieve what the US Government and the BBC are telling us? Certainly, when you compare it to the edited post she put up a few minutes later, it seems so.

I wonder if someone asked/told her to edit her first post - this picture. If so, is it censorship?

Hi guitar Bluesky, advice please Looking for a single coil pickup for my Steinberger Spirit. Difficulty is that it's a top mount and has to be the shape of the pickup, ie not a Strat style with the wider kinda v shaped base. Anyone got any suggestions? #guitar #pickups #singlecoil #steinberger

I love it when a thread goes in an unexpected direction! My old Wegen picks (Big City & Trimus?) with the nifty holder I got. They're probably about 20 years old. Interloping are a couple of Attak Piks which I've been using recently. They're good, but they don't glide like the Wegen picks. 🤣

I'm lucky to have a scruffy old Les Paul Special. Which I love, but I don't play it as much as my Tele. It's a fabulous guitar, plays like 'butter', sounds fabulous, but it's a heavyweight.

I don't think there are any 'bad' guitars these days. Set-ups can be tweaked to taste. Shape & comfort in *your* hands is what matters most. The rest is lego. 🙂 It took me years to become a Tele style fan. The only guitars I've found that are awkward seated are those with rounded bodies, not LPs.

home built Tele style. 3xEMG pickups Nashville wired, Paulownia lightweight body, all rosewood neck & fretboard. Active preamp/boost - it goes up to 11!! 🤘🙂🤘
