We played two games of #WingspanPocket. It really is very quick! Our 2 player games were 15 minutes each. We jumped in with the choose the birds/food rules. It plays smoothly, we like the food on backs of the bird cards keeps the box small. Overall a great addition to the series. #boardgames

We’ve been continuing to enjoy the #LOTRtricktakinggame (Fellowship). Sometimes it seems to go surprisingly well, we managed one chapter today in the first attempt. The long chapters can take a few attempts to get right, we’ve logged 50 plays so far. #boardgames

We own the first KS edition of #Everdell with the rolling sticks! In this game A had an enormous pile of said sticks, having 2 barge toads and 2 log rafts. M went for the 9 point special event card but was pipped at the post by A gaining points for common critters and constructions. #boardgames

A managed to fill the whole board in #Harmonies which is fairly unusual. We prefer the larger map size as it makes the game a little longer allowing for some of the trickier creature requirements. The long river rather than islands we also feel is a bit easier to do. #boardgames

Our scores improved a lot in this game of #PaladinsOfTheWestKingdom. A went from 38 points to 71, just one point behind M. Lots to do and think about. We went for different approaches, A did all the king’s orders whilst M built all the wall and developments. Excellent fun! #boardgames

#Finspan. In this game M managed to get all of the reefs completed. A had more schools, eggs and two reef rows complete. More reefs was the winning strategy but it was very close! #boardgames

#APlaceForAllMyBooks. M won this by having the most amount of cool stuff and doing one of the major achievements. A finished the game with an amazing number of books, just like in real life! #boardgames

An afternoon playing games, how fab! First we played #TheLordOfTheRings the original co -op game. We played easy mode and just about survived to destroy the ring. Then #TribesOfTheWind, an interesting card game which races to the win. #boardgames

A high scoring game of #CreatureCaravan. M made it all the way to the city, A only made it half way. A got over 50 points on cards but it wasn’t enough to catch up to M. #boardgames

#Wyrmspan. M finished with more points on dragons and an amazing 13 eggs. A lot of A’s score came from tucked cards and end game points. It’s great when a game allows for different ways to play - M’s victory was only by 4 points. #Boardgames

Our first play of #Earth expansion #AnimalKingdom. Whist adding a small amount of complexity we really enjoyed the powers the animals gave us. M had the Highland cow - which meant a huge compost pile. A played with the Reindeer giving points for eating sprouts. Final score v close! #boardgames

We are trying to play games that haven’t come off the shelf recently. #FieldsofGreen had its day today. An interesting game especially if you like to build a cardboard farm! A close game M winning by two points. #boardgames

Our 100th play of #Obsession! It wasn’t a close game as M had 15 prestige guests and won all but one of the courtships, winning with a score of 243. M bought energised service early in the game which made a huge difference. A rarely wins but enjoys building up the family estate. #boardgames

#Gutenberg. We’ve not played this since November 2024 which is a shame as it’s a good game. Today Matthew did more contracts which gave the winning edge. It’s not a pretty looking game it’s very beige but a good thinky euro. #boardgames

#Verdant, whilst the garden wilts in yet another heatwave, we made our cardboard plants happy! Lots of fertiliser came out early in the game, not much in the way of pets or furnishings. M won by two points. #boardgames

For some reason we are terrible at #CodenamesDuet! We played with the pictures in these games. First attempt we failed very quickly, second was the charm, winning convincingly. #boardgames

A wanted a pen based game so we chose #TheHobbitThereandbackagain. We did the chapter with the trolls which to our surprise was a draw. A had real problems with shapes, we gave very few games with polyominoes. A is very interested in the KS #Isleofpenguins where shapes are easier. #boardgames

An old favourite that’s sadly out of print #TheDownfallOfPompeii. We don’t usually like direct conflict games but this is one of the excerptions. We’ve played it many times and it’s starting to look very loved! #boardgames

#Underwatercities. M won comfortably with 5 symbiotic domes. A had more special cards but it wasn’t enough to catch up the 15 point lead M finished with. We still finds it irksome that the game art is dominated by white men, come on designers you can do better! #boardgames

An afternoon game of #Altiplano. M did four contracts and built a few houses. A won by filling more of the warehouse and gaining all but one piece of glass. Great thinky fun! #boardgames

#Wingspan. A low scoring game, A got 54 M 73. Neither of us did well at end of round scoring and unusually we both only had one bonus card. A is very interested in the new #WingspanPocket which is coming out soon. #boardgames

#Villagers. We played with the seasons expansion which has a random set of cards on the road to start. This can make getting more builds or food a little random - M had to buy a special builder card. A went all in on the grocer and won by a comfortable margin. #boardgames

Today we had a successful trip to Mount Doom in #FateoftheFellowship. We decided to play on easy as that gives us a better chance of winning! We just managed to throw the ring into the fire before middle earth was overcome by darkness. #boardgames

This afternoon we played #BackToTheFuture-backintime. We very nearly lost as the love meter was low and the DeLorian took a while to get to the right position. We followed this with #TheIsleOfCats. Not many lesson cards appears so scores were quite low. #boardgames

We are both very hot and tired after a week of intense heat. Today we stayed inside and played #TerraformingMars. M had a good engine which gave a 20 point victory. A managed to keep their played cards in a neat pile which is a first! #boardgames

A was super pleased to have won a rare victory of #Onirim! Quirky art and an addictive ‘one more play’ feel it’s a great solo game. #boardgames

Another hot day, so double games evening! We started with #DiceForge, M went for points on cards, A for points on the dice. We then played #RollPlayer. We fought against the vampire who had very specific criteria for gaining extra dice. Both ended in a single point victory for M. #boardgames

We are stuck indoors again in a major heatwave, time for more games. This evening we played #Theking’sguild and #CastlesofBurgundy. A victory each. #boardgames

We played our first game of #AeonsEnd #Beyondthebreach. It was very difficult - we got the nemesis life points down a fair way but Gravehold suffered too much damage. Definitely a challenge to work out how to get the best out of the player powers and limited deck choice. #boardgames
