I am navigating a high-stakes pivot after a political purge derailed my career. Now, in my late 20s, I’m an outlier in a graduate program, caught between the gravity of my professional past and the 'reset' of student life.

From Berlin to Stuttgart to Ulm, Esslingen-Necker, Konstanz, Zurich and Baden-Baden it's been a wild Christmas week for me. It's my first time doing Christmas away from the US and without family (mostly found at this point) Christmas has always been hard for me but traveling really cleared my mind.

As someone originally hailing from "the south of the South" I remember these atrocious ones from Winn-Dixie. The strawberry one in particular is disgusting.

Just finished Christopher Clark's The Sleepwalkers and holy hell, I'm ashamed I haven't read this book before because it's honestly very gripping and a parallel to today's geopolitics. To me, the most fascinating part of WWI was the personalities— namely Conrad Von Hötzendorf and his obsession.

Meeting lots of cool folks and hearing fascinating panels about everything from Frontinus to modern drone warfare.
