Michael Makichuk was a 23 year old Cpl. from Manitoba who led a mortar section with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles during the 1st wave on Juno. Died there from a landmine blast. A month earlier, he refused a promotion to Sgt. because Sr NCO training would've taken him away from his men. #RememberThem

My wife dragged me to HomeSense tonight where they are already celebrating Canada Day. The last snowbank at my place finally melted only last week. The crocusses aren't in bloom yet. Hockey playoffs haven't started. But here we are, anticipating summer. Talk about rushing the seasons!
