Railways, Industrial History, Canals and the odd bit of strange Wales
It would seem this video has gone viral. Normally I am happy when one gets past the 1k mark. This has just hit 10 thousand views! Seems everyone loves a tunnel
Currently being repaired, Avonside number 3 Portbury sits outside the shed on the Bristol Harbour Railway. A video about the line will be dropping later this year.
Frustrating trip to an abandoned railway trackbed today. Since I visited a year or so ago, it has disappeared completely to vegetation and is now totally impassible. A rewrite of the video is needed I feel! At least the ruins of this old trans shipment building is still intact.
Coming Tuesday June 30th. The past, present and future of a sealed off tunnel. The Rhondda Tunnel
Cape Verde. Apparently they play football as well (the beach at Santa Maria on Sal).
Whitland station this morning and not a YouTuber in sight. 😁 @sarahwiththetrains.bsky.social @jenonthemove.com @glovestrains.bsky.social @everylaststation.bsky.social
Sometime cleaning images with AI works, however this is a spectacular fail. Two Islywn Borough Transport buses at Pontllanfriath. One going to Penlywn. It has decided to plant them firmly into Yorkshire! A better prompt may help, I'll see what I can write.
Looks like the line I rode on to Málaga a couple of weeks ago. Similar stock
Taken a number of years ago, 47714 in Rail Express Systems livery, pauses at the signal near Newport Road in Cardiff.
Distance signal remains in Rhondda Tunnel. The video is being created and will drop later this month.
To round off my birthday week headed out to Málaga for a few days. Rode a Spanish train and marvelled at a stunning city.
Having braved a tunnel yesterday, today was a walk around Bristol Harbour and a ride on the Bristol Harbour Railway. Great little line.
Did I avoid the sun today for a muddy tunnel visit? Yes. Was it amazing? Also yes. Rhondda Tunnel video will drop later this year.
Remains of the Brecon and Merthyr railway near Bedwas. It's a hike up to the trackbed a long way up above the tunnel.
On a wall at the side of a road in Bedwas, Caerphilly. No idea what this was but it is in an area where there was a massive coal mine.
The old steps to Trethomas Station on the Brecon and Merthyr Railway.
The scary birds on the signal sculptures at Grag-y-Rhaca on the old Brecon and Merthyr railway.
So this space was taken up by @halcruttenden.bsky.social who did a full two hour set and made us laugh right through. Honestly if you can get to see him do so. Just don't wear a hoodie. Or orange.
TfW 150267 waits to depart from Cathays. These old work horses are on borrowed time.
Treberfydd House. Ace wedding venue and wonderful overnight accommodation. Wonderful weekend
A replica poster on the wall of the cottage I stayed on overnight. Note the address is New York
Visiting the old home town of Reading. Good to see the 29 still goes to Caversham
