The rose hedge has bloomed beautifully so it's been time to.clip to ensure a good show next year.🌱
That’s the willow arbour tidied up. It provides some shelter when the sun’s at its strongest. The stone bench which I made quite a few years ago is quite comfy with a cushion or two and a table and chairs makes it more sociable.🌱
I’ve planted a few Alba maxima the Scots rose, cuttings here so can keep enjoying its subtle blooms.🌱
Each Hemerocallis bloom so exquisitely welcomes the sun for such an agonisingly brief moment. At least the plant treats us to many gorgeous blooms over a long period. I love ‘em!🌱

I need several large New Zealand boxes to make compost in our large garden, but also have small plastic ones in different areas [behind the polytunnel, at the top of the kitchen garden, in the fruitcage]for small buckets of weeds or grass clippings. Saves a walk!😀🌱
This delightful little climber has just started - a little later than most of my roses - but flowers delight for a long period.🌱
I love the few weeks in the year when I can walk past this delightful pink wall with its hum of busy pollinators.🌱
Orchids are such a joy just now. They thrive here in areas with low growing vegetation that was previously mown or strimmed, often emerging in new spots treated that way.🌱
Rosa mundi is one of my favourite bush roses - also good for a low hedge. An old rose dating to at least the 16C, but also rumoured to be name after Henry 11 of England’s mistress Rosamund (12C).🌱
Paul's Himalayan Musk has taken over this Willow - and that's only one side of this fella.🌱
I reckon brassicas are the most demanding veg to grow -so many foul pests: rootfly, grey aphid, molluscs, cabbage whites, mice, pigeons, deer the list goes on. This insect net I've just put on foils a few esp. the very early cabbage whites. But you need the crop super fresh, so it's worth it!🌱
Leopard slugs, Limax maximus, are certainly explorers. This one ventured into the kitchen last night, perhaps looking for its favourite nibbles- fungi and dead plant and animal matter like our duck droppings. not sure what it was after in the kitchen[!] Not really a garden pest.
'Teasing Georgia'- how's that for a ghastly name? - is coming into its own as the first of summer-long blooms are making their gorgeous appearance.🌱
There's been a huge change in the weather today. Bakingly hot yesterday, warm but gently raining today. I took this pic yesterday as the perfect cooling hideaway at the bottom of the garden.🌱
There's a plant for every height grass. I've usually cut this line of grass but didn't do so this year. So a whole colony of species, including these orchids, took advantage of the extra light.🌱
“Pink Bouquet” is the gateway to Heaven. Ever reusing, this arch was constructed with old tent poles..
