Ogor Warhulk conversion now 30% less goofy. Some work on the face (yellow glaze for forehead, pink for cheeks, blue for chin!) and making the masking tape straps look leathery, adding some poundshop gems as metal studs... I don't hate it! I've painted and weathered the Fusil major's tower too

I found this talisman grey wizard in the attic. I painted him years ago, the first miniature I really took my time layering, adding lighter tones. Painting slowly. Not too special now, but I was proud of him then and enjoy him now. I still forget to enjoy the process, paint slowly. A reminder.

Next the Fusil Major - I had an old Empire Engineer kitbash I thought would work (pickelhaube, beard, pointing) but I can't find him in my boxes. So instead there's this kitbashed fella with a gun made from odds and sods. I like him. Might greenstuff some epaulettes for extra Major points.

The saga continues To have a break from bungling the Ogor warhulk, I decided to plough on with the Fusil major's crows nest. It's pretty messy, not too different from the Gnoblar lookout post it's based on, but I think it could work!

What the hell have I done now? I watched a YouTube video about making fabric cloaks - next thing I'm ripping up wipes, watering down pva, and my "Ogor warhulk" is wearing tight spandex athleisure. The original plan was for a landsknecht look, with puff & slash, so this may work as undergarments

My latest goofy conversion idea is an Ogor Warhulk using this Minotaur body and Ogre head, a sprue frame / scaffold and gnoblar lookout banner bits for the tower, then an old kitbashed Empire engineer with long rifle as the Fusil Major. Then I can have a CoS spearhead made from old Empire minis.

A find from the attic, I got this as a freebie with an ebay lot years ago. Didn't think I'd have a son who collected skaven one day! I tidied it up a bit, just adding matching coats of paint to liven up the colours. It's not part of the current army list, but could proxy as a warp grinder maybe

I dug out this slightly rough stormcast wizard from a box of minis I put away last year. He came free with a magazine! I removed his big metal hood and part of the staff (encasing the comet symbol) and moved his arm into what I felt was a more dramatic pose. Still looks like a vegas conjuror though.

I found an old Talisman skaven figure (from a box I had 30 years ago) while looking for some bits (an Ironblaster I bought about 15 years ago) to help my finish my Ogor spearhead. I have tidied him up a bit Simpler times! My son is working on his skaven spearhead, but I don't think this guy fits

My son likes Skaven, so I'm steering us towards Spearhead. I had some gitz already but needed 5 more bounders so got a painted lot from eBay. Tidying them up is part of the fun. The squigs were hot pink. I gave them a purple wash then a coat of red, but now I am thinking, am I too conventional?

Those hachette magazine issue 1s are too good to pass up, the Mortal Realms one and now Spearhead. He looks like a Steve to me. Not sure what to do with the Lord Veritant, it's a bit po-faced the stormcast stuff. I painted a stormcast wizard a 2 years ago and it just looked like a vegas conjuror.

Day 3 of Zodgrod, I never finish projects so this is a big blip. In some ways he'll never be done, because of neuroses, but here he is anyway, kind of done! First homemade banner, using the natural scruffiness of Orks as cover for inexperience and haste!

Zodgrod Wortsnagga! ... Has a lovely old metal model and a less lovely new plastic one I had a runtherd I couldn't warm to next to the jolly Gretchin he herds So I've given him a hair squig beard & quiff (does the eyepatch band make him look like McEnroe?) & an arm with a pistol Banner to follow!

I don't collect Skaven and never got the appeal until recently, but seeing this guy from the skaventide set on eBay for less than a tenner seemed too good to pass up. A delightful a dramatic figure, reminding me of the Rats of Nimh and Redwall and all that good childhood stuff.

As a break from spending months failing to finish my troll / ogor / ork conversions, I bought a handsome metal dwarf from the Dragon Painter in Abergavenny market and had a nice time slapping speedpaint on him. The basing is tea and dill. I am ignoring the mold line on the crossbow for now.

Compared with my Mollog conversion I'm much happier with Trugg (also too long in the green stuff stage). I was dubious, and then a couple of drybrushes later I think he's promising. Still v WIP too, planning some foliage on the body in keeping w the fluff (and to hide my mistakes!)

I don't hate how this WIP paint job of my Mollog conversion is going, but there's a long way to go. The upper body's too shiny (didn't shake my Xpress paints enough!) highlights are sloppy, lots of details to touch up and a base to finish! But I spent too long on the greenstuff stage to stop now

Any advice? I started with a purple speed paint, changed my mind and went for this dark turquoise/cream combo, but I worry he looks like the joker in a suit. Lighter green highlights on the skin? Glazes on the belly/face/arms? Some mottling/freckles to break up the stark break in colour?

At a glacial pace my Mollog the Mighty conversion (into a full sized Dankhold) is approaching completion. It's been fun learning to follow the shapes of muscles with putty, lengthening bits, fattening bits, starting to prime out of boredom then wising up... Mollog the Malicious will be ready soon.

Ditto, I don't hate dropper bottles but I have had more trouble with blockages and the plastic tip coming off entirely and spilling the bottle, than I have with GW pots being a bit crusty. That said my GW paints are all quite old - I think most people blame a specific era of GW pots.

I really want to get a decent amount of these ogors painted to a basic standard. Instead I have spent AGES tonight shaving plastic so I can squash Ork heads into Ogor helmets.
