I didn't realize how much I needed that collective vision and hopefullness. Double yum because they fed us three meals a day plus snacks. Along with everything else I'm still digesting the genuine, loving folks I talked to. A unexpected joy and not what I had prepared myself for.

Even though Rootable had a poster at the conference and we're looking for funding (always), I didn't decide to go until I saw the speakers. Since I started working on tech in the food access/waste space, I have stayed away from the conferences. ReFED's, for example, is notorisly corporate & boring.
I've mainly been to tech conferences. Emotions were kept under wraps. But this conference invited emotion and sincerity. Spirit of Grace, a gospel group from Denver, performed throughout. And there were sing alongs every day.
The flobots mc'd, which was fun, but I wasn't prepared for when the Spirit of Grace came on stage and sang "A Change is Gonna Come" - a powerful song I also have a personal connection to ... I bawled in a room full of conference goers. I was embarrassed at my strong emotional reaction.
