My cat Max was the same when I adopted him. He was returned twice to the shelter. Now, he's velcro. He is the sweetest kitty ever. Time and patience.

My cat escaped. I set up the usual routine. I leave food and water in the basement with the door ajar so he can come home. But.....that's not my cat 🤣
