Just saw my first solar eclipse. A++. Would recommend. (Currently on Liberty of the Seas, just north of Spain) Here it is at 4x rate:
“He doesn’t know how to use the three seashells!” (Me trying to figure out the unlabeled bins in Bilbao 😅)

I'm losing my patience with GitHub. Both the constant outages and constant lying piss me off.
4th of July Fun Run 5K! 🎉🇺🇸 First organized run in ages. Fun indeed. And earns me 3.1 beers in my 2026 mile-per-beer (any alcoholic drink) resolution! I'm trying to work up to a half marathon again. Longest run lately is 6.5 miles.
Hey @goodtogo.wsdot.wa.gov, a unique merchant-locked credit card number (from Privacy.com) I've only ever given to you guys tried to buy $2,200 of sandwiches. Did you get compromised? I closed the card and see no other activity on it, at least.
Our 3yo is loving this Mariners game. “We’ll sell you the whole seat but you’ll only need the bed”
This little thingy is great: pockethernet.com (Not an ad. No affiliate links. Just enamored.)
"Racksberry Pi" My new rack to eventually better organize/cable my collection of all Raspberries Pi, mips, mipsle, mips64, riscv64, etc rando hardware. Still setting it up. Only silent fanless stuff is allowed here. Servers with fans/IPMI go in the garage where they can be loud and not needy.
Yay Hyundai celebrating the 1 year anniversary of my Ioniq 5 that didn't last 6 months.
... also now: Tailscale running on UEFI on AWS EC2. No kernel. No OS. (Tamago) Had to port AWS ENA drivers to Go (from FreeBSD, DPDK, Amazon spec) Also fun: it's using UEFI variables as its ipn.StateStore, so you can reboot the instance and it's still logged in. This was a PITA even with AI.
And while I was doing operating systems whose names match /^R.*OS$/ .... Tailscale on ReactOS! (reactos.org) It's like an open source Windows XP. Go toolchain + std require Win10+, and ReactOS is pre-Win7, so Go needed changes. Then ran a tsnet server on it, serving its own screenshot:
Another one for Tailscale Hack Week: I got Go ported to Redox OS (www.redox-os.org), enough to run Tailscale inside it. i.e. GOOS=redox GOARCH=amd64 Go std tests exposed a Redox libc bug with unsafe Rust, too. And a kernel crash.
Tailscale on UEFI ... who needs an OS, really? (using github.com/usbarmory/ta...) And yes, clearly putting a bootloader in here is an obvious next step 😉 This week is Hack Week at Tailscale. This is one of the 4 weird new places I got Tailscale running. #golang #tamago #tailscale #hackweek
Apparently somebody just built us a new marketing site... 🙏 justfuckingusetailscale.com
oh hey, we're in the air finally after a 12.5 hour delay, much of that sitting in a broken plane before deplaning
This Alaska 391 flight from Toronto to Seattle I'm on (or was on, until we deplaned after 4 hours of sitting) is not going anywhere. They keep finding problems. Drained all the water after failing to find a leak. Replaced with wipes and sanitizer and bottles. Then something froze up. Good times.
I'm trying to extend my garage rack 10 GbE network to my office upstairs. I got a quote to add conduit+fiber outside house, drilling into garage + office. But the house has CAT6, turns out! It's just poorly terminated. I can get shitty lossy 5GbE over this. New wall jack punchdowns on the way! 🤞
I made my roof lights show a binary countdown of seconds until the new year. Why not. Usually our street is packed with people watching the Space Needle firework show but this year there’s an extreme fog advisory so I guess they can have something else to look at instead. 🤓
