Restoring family farm circa 1799 at Sheepscot Lake Maine with Amy. 🐈 🦆🐓🍁🌲🐝 Covid resisting, socialist, pagan, anti-fascist, ACAB, BLM, 🍉🇵🇸 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️, he/him
Today is our 32nd wedding anniversary. I knew I wanted to be with Amy forever about a month after our first date. And so we made that happen. We raised two amazing kids and have been empty nesting for a bit. Here is to another 32 years!
Classic Bondi. I am looking forward to not hearing her voice again until the hearings after the midterms.
Dear Mainers, It just started snowing here in the midcoast a few minutes ago. We are in for a major blizzard. Visibility is already down to less than 1/4 mile. Which means you cannot safely fly by at 60mph and stop before you hit that invisible plow truck up ahead.
5. Reloading a shotgun fast without dropping the shells on the floor. Best scenes since
Maine has several seasons apart from the big 4. There is also Mud Season (coming up soon) and today is Fake Spring #1. It is t-shirt weather outside, 44F, and tomorrow we will have snow and temps in the 30s. Enjoy!!
Acquired - but why does the bottle weigh 20 lbs? 🤣. Spicy and toothsome fragrance, early notes of sweetness and cherry, but long lasting amber/sandalwood making one think of fun grownup activities all day. Thanks for the recommendation!
“How it started vs how it is going”. Alternate title, “Nine Years.” Our little baby balsam tree in the lower left corner of the window frame, vs the 30’ illuminated tree of today.
Adding to the blocklist. Make good personal choices - inject Covid into your eyeballs, go for it man! But protecting myself and my family from a preventable disease is cult behavior? Smh.
Pics of the aurora tonight, the first one is north, and was a really really long exposure (no idea how I got the phone to do that). The second is Orion to the east in red. The third is just straight up. The last is a shot to the west, where the sky was tinted a little violet. Simply beautiful!
Belfast harbor from the memorial footbridge, while waiting for Z’Apresso pizza. A really good day wandering around Maine.
A little toasty. The 0.15” of rain we got on Aug 17 was our first rain in like 6 weeks after a very dry July.
Alien Nation, 1988. Janes Caan and Mandy Patinkin are excellent. Also stars Terence Stamp!!
The second half of June was dry. Most of July was abnormally dry. August so far has been rain-less. The ground in places is starting to crack. This dandelion and the crabgrass, both with deep taproots are doing their best. This is why fire danger is super high in Maine right now. No relief in sight.
One more lunar photo - not as nacho-cheesey tonight. But the AQI from Canadian wildfires is worse, “like smoking a half pack of cigarettes” worse. Glad to have my N95 on; it is amazing how tiny things can do such big harm. Like smoke particles, or asbestos. Or viruses. Mask up and protect yourself!
As a part-time Maine farmer, I have no time for that toxic shit.
Rain at last. We had three weeks in June with only 1/4” of rain, and most of July has been dry. We got less than a half inch at the beginning of the month, three weeks of dryness, then about 3/4 of an inch, and then nothing for 10 days. And now this. No idea how much we will get but it is welcome.
Just a couple days after the solstice in Maine, after 9PM, and the sun is still setting – it doesn’t really get full dark until after 10PM, and it will start being light again around 4 AM. But even now, thankfully, the days are shortening a bit.
I attempted this. “Its like Jurassic Park, but with mammals”- Me. It is so poorly written. I gave it 2 chapters but after riveting discussions about how everyone is ripped or not that ripped, and two mentions of “Jurassic Park,” I was done. 2 out of 10.
The hummingbirds have been staying close to the feeders on these wet and chilly May days. This is a ruby-throated male - his feathers are flashing neon in the almost sunlight.
Because a stupid fucking human had not cut it down! Change the fucking house plans. Leave the big tree. What the fuck
I am trying to vacuum the living room and Alice is guilting me with her chibi eyes.
