Oh, and lest I forget, this volume's collection of uniquely crafted LET IT RIPs (this seriously is my favorite part)
I'm a big fan of whenever I'm allowed to get a little brushy. Seeing these on the physical page feel so chunky, so textured, the "feel" is just right.
The pen strokes particularly help these blend into the art very seamlessly.
Beyblade X volume 6! Here's some SFX I lettered for it that I think are neat. I don't have the final Japanese pages on hand so no comparisons this time.
can't tell what the funnier thing about Victory Gundam is that there's a guy named Trump who attempts SA in the first scene he's in, or that there's a mobile suit whose name sounds like the guy who makes superhero movies
The general process for this is the clone tool in Photoshop. You pick another part of the art as a source and start trying to reconstruct the pattern. Gradients are difficult because if you don't match the direction closely, the areas you patch up will stand out compared to the original art.
lol as soon as I posted this I got two more in the mail. Chained Soldier volume 14 and Devil is a Part-Timer! volume 24 (final volume) both release on July 28th!
New on the work shelf: Snow White with the Red Hair volume 27 releases July 7th!🍎💖 It's been two years since the last volume released!
slipping a copy under the door into the viz media offices and whispering "it's time to duel" into the nearest person's ear
New on the work shelf! Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury: Vanadis Heart volume 1 releases August 25th. with a cameo of some of Gundam titles I lettered in the past :]
Spot healing brush tool is a retouching staple in Photoshop but for some reason it loves reverting to this setting which seems absolutely useless for anything ever
New on the work shelf! Sister and Giant volume 6 releases August 25th.
Beyblade X is a black and white comic so I definitely had to paint grayscale versions of the team logos for a chapter cover that was originally in color! Get all that?
You may be wondering what is different about this train station monitor, but sometimes (often) manga loc is turning kunreishiki into hepburnshiki
There's a lot of really cool bits of lettering I got to do in this volume. I'm a little apprehensive to post too much of it because it feels kind of spoilery? But there's a lot of technical, tricky bits that I like to think I'm at least a little good at.
I lettered Ballet Hero Fantasy! Takafumi Adachi sensei was gracious enough to provide his original art files, so I was able to localize the sound effects with very minimal retouch involved. It's a very fun and heartfelt story, so I hope you check it out!
robot head sculpt. it's a lil jegan coded ngl but v shaped visors are cool, which is why I made it glow
