Playwright, artist, co-owner of a zero-waste store. Native NYer happily living in Chicago (it smells better here). Wishing we weren't fighting Nazis in 2026.
Brought a picnic dinner to the beach so we could watch the moon rise. Then came home and had a Michigan peach for dessert. Even though I generally feel like garbage in the summer, Chicago summers are still pretty unbeatable.
Happening at my small business right now. We've been asking for this door to be replaced for over a year now. For a multitude of reasons. This being one of them. #Chicago
I love it and miss mountain laurel so much. Probably my favorite wild flower. I love how you can invert the blossoms and turn them into fairy parasols.
The part of my summer where my diet is fully 1/3 Michigan peaches has begun! #summertimebliss
I ate 2 pints of berries yesterday. Today I'm starting off with 1/2 a pint. Might have to pick up more black raspberries today since they were SO good yesterday. One of the few foods I will gorge myself on. #summer
Two of my favorite things about this beach are the trees that offer afternoon and evening shade, and all the dragonflies that dance and swoop overhead as I lie on my towel drying off.
Someone threw their (clearly subpar) coffee at our closed sign. Y'all, we get it. We're sad too. Your coffee tears are noted.
Today was the final day of my cafe. I'm going to miss all of our amazing regulars.
I still cherish the memory of when the salt broke through the wall of the shed and buried several employees cars in the lot.
When you didn't realize you had a signed book by a beloved, deceased author in your home for the past 30 years. (My mother-in-law saw her talk at her alma mater ages ago and bought 3 of her books and got this one signed. Then she loaned it to us.)
Look at these goslings huddled together with their mom at Montrose Harbor.
These hilariously 80s bangs are brought to you by Severe Bedhead. Morning everyone!
Did I ever mention that my award-winning play CHAGRIN FALLS was published by Broadway Play Publishing this year? Probably not, bc I'm bad at marketing. My childhood classmate Mike Vigilio did the cover art. www.broadwayplaypublishing.com/authors/mia-...
Saw the corners turned on a copy of one of my plays at the library. Evidence that perhaps someone has read it! A nice little ego boost on a Tuesday.
I saw a lot of cute cats on this trip, but these two were the handsomest. Oreo in NJ and George in MD. #Caturday
Doodling/drawing with pen and colored pencils is how I started coping during the pandemic. It continues to soothe me. I hope you're all finding the thing that calms down your nervous system.
My partner has started seedlings in these soil blockers inside party trays and I keep thinking they're cake. I guess the point is, stop taking about cake Josh, or I'm going to start eating dirt. In
I stood right there (or nearby) in 2022. It's on the east side of the park, ya? Part way up the right road where all the dead trees are. When was your photo taken?
A friend who drives from Manitowoc Wisconsin to Chicagoland every 2 weeks has been watching the proNazi signs disappear over the past 6 months. This sign was the last holdout and it, as of 2/16, has been ripped down. So maybe people are wising up. Maybe there's hope.
A brief moment at the beach the other day. Daisy Lou got to be off leash outside the backyard for the first time in a LONG TIME. Chunks of ice littered the sand like jewels, but I didn't take a pic of that. You had to be there
Stopped by the animal shelter yesterday and learned that 2 of my fosters were adopted and the 3rd one is being fostered by an intern who may decide to keep her. So relieved and happy.
I made the ramen happen. Here's to always having frozen broth in the freezer.
Passion fruit flower. I love the variations of people hues. #Bloomscrolling
I fostered for 8 weeks this fall. Very much hoping they find a home.
