50 years and 4 million more people later. Wish we had an updated version of the 2020 map. The loss of the night sky is one of mankind's greatest tragedies.

As a queer who grew up after the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis, this book is both heartbreaking and empowering. Stories of people who were born decades before me, looked at the world they were born into and its injustice and said "this shall not stand," but are also the small subset of survivors.
There are no sidewalk crossings, and only one low-speed roadway crossing, along this entire 5 mile stretch. A person was killed in December 2024 trying to cross 53 on foot (indicated at the callout box).
Hosted my final Bike to School Day at kiddo's daycare as they head to elementary school next. Most number of participants (>60). So many stories of "my kid has been talking about this for weeks" and especially "my kid wanted to be sure they learned how to ride their bike in time." 😭😭😭
Onto transit ride number 4 of the day. Would have been number 7 but missed the initial trip in a chain and needed to get back in time for daycare pickup so took a rideshare.
