I used to renew this book every fortnight from Ayr Library spending hours as a teenager pouring over the words and pictures. The words as much as anything, how he talked about himself, about painting. He was the first artist that made me think about art in a different way. So sad that he’s gone.

Your trust in the world, in people, disappears. You can’t trust because you can lose…….. everything is broken. Drawing confronts the world but hides from it at the same time.
Heavy Structures in a Landscape Setting - is a title lifted shamelessly from a painting by a William McCance and at the minute exists only as a series of drawings printed and glued to form a clumsy approximation of a book.
