I have a collection I built once COVID started. My favorite of this type is made just for aerospace test engineers. The Douglas Sky Rule from 1951: sliderulemuseum.com/Pickett.shtml (links to images and the scanned instruction pamphlet) The neat tricks are always reversible computations.

I bought a matching set of EcoFlow panels used and connected them in series, while I figured out how to tilt them outwards using the stand hardware. So, the system now produces 415W in direct sunlight which might save me $30 per month but definitely will sustain the apartment during a power outage.

I am staying in a roadside hotel in SoCal whose various nonstructural elements are showing signs of a hasty interior overhaul, and I have never felt more “Backrooms” liminal space perceptions. The front exit is the only exit, which is probably a code violation. I wonder what it was before.

I’m beta testing an iOS app for Hyundai Ioniq EVs and I am pretty impressed that this is a tiny SwiftUI app reading data from an ELM327 dongle and giving a nice battery display.
It always helps to see something too familiar like 2001 in a new setting. We got to watch it under the open sky projected in a vacant lot in our neighborhood recently.
