Some cracking games today in the barn! @leeparnell.bsky.social panel beat the everlasting toss out of me (I’ll let him post the pics) but it was one of those ‘oh come one’ dice roll days :D still, handsome board! I played Germans first against Nathan and had a brilliant bizarre game. #wargaming
Something a bit different. WAR CARNYX. All wargames will be started with the blasting of this obnoxious nonsense horn. #carnyx #ancienthistory
Pastoral scene with some spruced up fattorie in 15mm. These are actually decent for multi period stuff really, but will be just lovely for GRAPESHOT. Had to do a bit of repair on a wall but otherwise, looking decent! #wargaming
Smashing weekend with the Mediteraneo gang. Bersaglieri in the desert! Rob joined us this weekend teaching us aircraft recognition using the WEFT technique. We got to the Sparviero and all assumed it was a Bristol Blenheim. AN EASY MISTAKE YOU MIGHT SAY (deep Italian political cut there)
Fairly quick and easy cemetery! Some foam board, sarissa precision graves and old Battlefront ones too. Works well on the field! #wargaming
This action though was particularly absurd. Saint Celestine charges in. Fails to reach. The storm lord has just exploded causing 8 mortal wounds killing her crew. She then charges in again and bounces off my Bodyguard. Who then bops her. And she failed to return on a 2+ LOOOOOL
40k is a deeply silly game that I enjoy dearly because my 1000 tonne transport tank can eject 25 goat men at a group of power armour wearing angry ladies with flags and jump jets lead by a magical golden woman with a sword. And I love it. 2500pts this evening. Great stuff.
Little details on the table matter. Kids football pitch and play area for 15mm games Klaus clearly complaining that Otto is offside here’s #wargaming
Couple of snaps from my first game of Barons War. It’s a nice game that gets the feeling of the period across well which I like! That said, the Oathmark orcs really are tickling my fancy for the game! #wargaming #historical
Thats the one. Honestly, eyeball it! I used German field grey, green grey and deck tan for mine. These are in 15mm but it should work!
Repairs complete for this #40k scale Astra Militarum Leviathan. It’s very silly. And we love it! Print by Stuart Knox.
The action got tense as Harry pushed my objective and I his. He had the last laugh though and forced a company break on me. Excellent game.
Smashing game against Harry Yates VDV in Berlin for the Team Yankee tournament. Great to see two armies on the lovely Berlin Wall board. #wargaming #teamyankee
Painted up for my daughters #pathfinder campaign. This is Cethlan, her chums character. A barbarian! A classic copplestone casting model. #ttrpg
At 7:26am this morning, Carnoy cemetery. No better place for the 10th Essex. #somme110
Regina Trench in the Somme. A beautiful place, and a permanent home for many of the 10th Essex. Here for the 110th anniversary. A beautiful spot. #somme110
New edition of 40k today with Nate. Really like the system and it delivers what I want in a 40k game. Which is ostensibly a game where giant artillery pieces fire at things 5 inches away. It’s not sensible and it never has been and that’s part of the charm. Objectives in the new ed are cool! #40k
First official games in the new barn! Still a bit to go on it, but we can now play games properly in there. Team Yankee, 164 points game, double Brits Vs Finns. A smashing battle and the single most effective Buccaneer strike I’ve ever had!
BOOK REVIEW! Close to the end as I am of this cracking book, I figure it’s time for a review! I’ll start with a quote from my guide in the Dolomites from 2023. ‘To understand these mountains, you must chain yourself to them and bleed’… and holy cow has @tomisitt.bsky.social done that in spades 1/
Getting on a roll with the Italian buildings for Operation Grapeshot now! The two Piazzi are done. Extra buildings on the way to add depth to the boards as well. #wargaming #italy
A bit of fun for a birthday present for my daughters friend. Flicker is her Pseudodragon animal companion. Flicker is the last ‘red dragon’ in Lynnwyrm, our world we created over a decade ago that my daughter and her chums now play in for pathfinder. On a picnic blanket… because why not? #ttrpg
More Italy stuff just finished. Decided to hand paint some racing hoardings and man… what I wouldn’t give for a scale ‘Wargame’ which was basically a 1930s to 1960s racing game.
In preparation for our big OPERATION: GRAPESHOT game in august, I’ve been painting terrain like a madman for a dense town board. Here’s one of the Piazzi! Lots more buildings to come that hopefully fills the board with Chaos. #wargaming #italy
From 2024's D-Day Game. 25 players got together on the anniversary to recreate a small part of the action of #DDay Wargaming is a big part of the military history story, so to have so many like minded enthusiasts together was smashing. Have a peaceful DDay Anniversary.
Specifically for timing the students at school in stretcher bearers races I have bought a period stop watch. It is definitely for this and not for @leeparnell.bsky.social and i to recreate scenes from hunt for Red October and me to bark ‘10 SECOND FROM TURN. 15! TWENTY. WE ARE A BOAT LENGTH OUT’
Cleared out the barn nests today after the week long observation period to make sure they were fully derelict. This is in prep for the barn coming down. Nests are all Robin and used by Wrens as well. Made with wargames supplies and terrain. Ingenious little things! Nest boxes going up on new barn!
24th May 1915. Italy enters the war. 'The mother of all gambles' see's Italy fighting in absolutely baffling conditions of blistering heat, meters deep snow, glaciers, mountains, malarial flat lands and 3 kilometers up. Onori.
Had a blister of old jeeps laying around the barn and thought I’d paint em up. Some little flags for Popski’s on the front and they have come out smart!
Precisely so. 'Exhausting by design'. For my part in 1917, i managed to get them to film it on chalk to represent Arras after talks with the set locations team. My heart soared when I saw the actually period numbers of BAME soldiers. Like the blokes in this, who clearly never existed.
