surprise surprise lilies! i planted them in may, so i wasn't expecting them this year. so glad i saw them before the deer did!

five pink lily flowers on top of a single, leafless stem. some of the lily petals have blue veins at the tip. there are a few red and orange marigolds and a glass pink flamingo in the background.

saw a pipevine swallowtail and great spangled fritillary! probably!

butterfly perched on a leaf, surrounded by more leaves. its body is blac with white spots, and it has mostly black wings, with blue edges on the bottom wigs with orange an white spots.

fritillary perched on coneflower disc with proboscis extended. it's brown, orange, and yellow, wih white spots on the bottom wing and black markings on the top.

the bee balm is seven feet tall, the new england asters think it's michaelmas, and i think the tiger swallowtails and skippers prefer cultivars. mess. 🌱

TIL there’s a snake plant on the porch in American Gothic, but I’m gonna pretend I already knew and just forgot.

Went with the 250th anniversary sticker in Spanish because it has a nice pebbley texture and the others didn't.

Maryland I Voted sticker on its card. Oval with Maryland flag under an open black oval that says "declaracíon de independencia 250 aniversario." Inside that is a circle with a white MD capitol dome with 1776 and 2026 on either side of the spire, over a black silhouette of the state, over a gold background. Across the bottom third of the black oval is a red ribbon that reads "Votante de Maryland." It is extremely busy, as befitting our flag.

five days of rain made the leaves on the oakleaf hydrangea double in size! and left the choptank azalea with one non-sad bloom.

shrub in mulch bed. it has large five-lobed leaves that look like oak leaves, and four conical clusters of green to white flowers, larger ones at the base.

it's my fault for not covering the sensitive plants just in case, but I'm very annoyed that the japanese maple, redbuds, and crape myrtles all look like ass, but the clematis is fine and blooming early. it was a frost warning, not a hard freeze warning!!

i forgot i had black-eyed susans right there when i planted the calico asters this spring and ran into some spacing issues! i think i like it, though.
