Dropped my girl off this morning for her surgery. She spent the night under the covers and directly on my stomach (which I was having terrible pains in). This little girl is always there for me. Send her all the good vibes for a successful surgery, quick recovery, and a good prognosis! 🤞💛
Laurel's surgery is tomorrow. I pushed for a unilateral mammary chain removal (if the vet is comfortable doing it)...idk if I'm being delusional. I don't want to put her through a rougher recovery but I want to believe I caught it in time. It’s really the only way to give her fighting chance.
This girl has slept not just with me, but on me, nearly every night for the last decade in Buffalo, NYC, & Chicago. She's been next to me through so much. The thought of not feeling her on me when I sleep and not seeing her the first thing in the morning is crushing. Staying ridiculously optimistic.
This is when I brought her home in 2015. The entire SPCA tried to convince me to adopt ANY other cat “are you sure? Not Sunshine over here?” “You want THAT one??” - I knew that she was the one for me. She’s still feisty with everyone else but not with me (hence how I found her lump on her tummy).
Did my first ever “run” today (walking with lil bursts of running but I live on hills so it’s more challenging than it sounds lol)…I think I discovered what I thought was shoulder pain might be a lung problem. Otherwise enjoyed myself & felt minimally embarrassed. My ankles, however, are unhappy.

I tragically lost my dog last week. We had such a close bond and it would’ve been 7 years to the day I adopted her 2 days after her passing. I’m so grateful for the support from my internet community to try and save her. I made her last day as special as I could. And she did the same for me. xx

Watched the sunset on the river with my dog, crossed the road, turned around, and suddenly this guy materialized. Truly felt spooky. Where the hell did it come from? Shocked my high prey drive dog didn’t even notice it. A banal experience but felt like magic. ✨ 🐈⬛
