One of the most devastating tornadoes in history, it sliced through Xenia between 4:30 and 5:00 in the evening and was on the ground for more than 31 minutes. 32 people died in the tornado and nearly 1200 were wounded. The effects for me at that age were absolutely traumatizing.
Today marks the 52nd anniversary of a massive tornado outbreak through the Midwest and a particularly devastating tornado in Xenia, Ohio. I was in that tornado. I was 6 and 1/2 years old and I lived in Centerville, a suburb of Dayton. The tornado formed over my house. Wind speeds topped 300 mph.
