Parts of England will experience extreme heat on Thursday, 13 August. With temperatures forecast to be above 35 centigrade (95F), the Met Office has issued an Amber alert for that day. The alert covers most of England. Even areas not covered by the alert will still be very hot. 1/4

Most of England will have very hot weather later this week (10-15 August). This heat is a real risk to health that you shouldn’t ignore. Take this risk seriously, especially if you are a disabled or older person, have a long-term health condition, taking medicines, or a parent of a infant. 1/3

England spends £188 bn p.a. on five main benefits, 3x annual defence spending. 60% is spent on the state pension, and cutting it is very unpopular. If pensions can’t be cut, then cutting welfare must mean cutting benefits for working & disabled people.

It turns out that Lauren Edwards, the MP who wants suicide to be available on the NHS for disabled people, has used unacceptable disability slurs in the past. Is this why she hasn't consulted any of the disabled-led organisations who unanimously oppose this Bill?

We're dismayed that a Labour MP is thinking of reintroducing an Assisted Suicide bill. People are looking to Parliament in troubled times for leadership and unity, not a squabble over whether the NHS can kill its patients. Talk about appallingly bad optics!
