#Letterboxd #LastFourWatched Loved NOMADLAND. Faithful in scope and spirit to the nf book, which I also recommend. Pleasantly surprised by THE BEST YOU CAN. A wholesome and nuanced portrayal of relationships. Don’t watch BTDKYD if you’re slightly anxious about anything. WRETCHED was a dud.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched INCENDIES - Wow. I rarely give 5 * but wow, what an intense, gripping and harrowing film. Perfect storytelling. BACKROOMS - Love the ideas presented, homages to Borges, Dante, House of Leaves… But something’s missing - too many untied ends. But I liked it.

Just realized I never finished the #20books20days challenge. Stopped at ten. Ok, I’m old and slow, sorry. Here is #11. THE SUN ALSO RISES by Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway himself was a first-rate dick but he wrote the most profound, beautiful truths with as few words as possible.
#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Only 3 films this week, (saw HOKUM last week) All 3 chosen by my Dad when I visited him and my mom last wknd. Not bad, but not good, but entertaining enough- DRACULA UNTOLD & POMPEII Wonderful & whimsical, 4 * - REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES All 3 on Netflix.
#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched HOKUM was great. Folk horror perfected. I watched DRACULA UNTOLD & POMPEII tonight with my parents, whom I only see once or twice a year. But we enjoy watching movies together, and I liked these two mainly bc my dad chose them for us to watch.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched WHO BY FIRE - a slow burn ignited long ago, now left to spread through wilderness… THE LONELIEST PLANET - a prolonged twisting of a twig against stone, then a long, low smolder, and then a spark; then it sputters out. I enjoyed both. RING - a masterpiece.
TRAIN DREAMS should have won the Oscar for best cinematography. Every single shot in this film is like a painting. PROJECT HAIL MARY lived up to the hype. Also enjoyed the two horror films, both on Tubi rn. #LetterBoxdFriday #LastFourWatched
I finally watched a movie!! For the 1st time in 2 weeks. THE CARETAKERS. 1963. Dir. Hall Bartlett W/Joan Crawford and Robert Stack. Poster is sensationalist and titillating, but the movie itself is anything but. It’s a thoughtful look at how the mentally ill were treated at the time. 4/5 stars
#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Last movie I watched was DRACULA, two wks ago tomorrow. Yes, I feel faint. This hiatus is neither voluntary nor sustainable.
