Nature-noticer and maker of things mostly with yarn. Library manager, repair cafe co-ordinator and knitting pattern designer by day and sometimes night. Lover of curlews, skylarks and the songs they sing. She/her.
The knitting was quick but it’s been too hot to wear it even for photos. But I’m very happy with this leftover sock yarn project. 🧶
It’s a combination of different sock yarn leftovers, six so far and still counting! I think it should be a really useful sock yarn leftovers project that isn’t as big or involved as a blanket 😃
Recent making. A pair of leftovers socks, a summer cardigan, a gradient spinning project, and a current using-up-sock-yarn-leftovers project.
For #WildflowerHour today I found marsh orchids (not sure whether northern or southern), viper’s bugloss and ragged robin, all seen on a university campus.
Sharing some cow wheat for #WildflowerHour as we had the excitement of also spotting a number of heath fritillary butterflies that rely on the cow wheat as their larval food plant.
For #WildflowerHour this week, I have water avens, English bluebell and what I’m told is a common sight- this occasional botanist getting close to her subject.
Had great fun looking for wildflowers on Anglesey this week, especially amongst the rocks and on the cliffs. Spring squill, wood anemone, thrift and and unknown rock dweller in the third picture #WildflowerHour
These ones were finished a few months ago but also got some modelled photos this week and will be written up soon too. With many thanks to my partner for his clambering upon rocks and being a willing model. “Footography” was his remark 😆
More finished socks! These ones do not yet have a name, but the very simple lace texture is pleasing to knit and I’m going to write up the pattern for them 🧶
Late afternoon walk. Skylarks singing. A skein of presumably geese overhead. No coat needed. I like late March.
Finished knitting project 🧶: a colourwork yoke jumper in Icelandic Lettlopi yarn, finished at the end of February just in time for spring 😁 It’s already had an unexpected visit to the hospital as I had an encounter with some dirty metal yesterday that resulted in an urgent tetanus booster 😊
First finished spinning project of the year, a wonderful blend of Welsh sheep breed wools and kid mohair. Every bit of spinning this fibre made me happy. 🧶
New spinning project. Creating sense and order out of a chaos of fluffy fibres. Also a great way to spend wet and wintery February days. 🧶
Re-knitting. Both in the sense of re-making a pattern that works for me, my handspun yarn, my needs. But also, mending and re-working parts of knits that have already seen multiple winters and many adventures. An hour or so of giving them new thumbs and cuffs and they’re brand new again 😁🧶
Properly cold here. But the year has started off with boardgames and cheese, seeing an unexpectedly local eagle and finishing a long awaited knitting project. World stuff is weird, but on a personal level the year is being kind so far.
Christmas sock knitting was pretty successful- 7 out of 8 socks completed and all fit and are pleasing to the wearers 😃🧶
Went looking for an eagle that has popped up in the area. Managed to miss it on two locations, once by minutes, once by seconds! The winter light was good though.
Sights from the bog this morning, where the sun tried to shine on the mossy, muddy, mushroomy gloriousness. It’s been a funny few days, with an unwelcome approach from Daily Mail journalist trying to get me to talk about my chess-playing years with Rachel Reeves. This, though, was wonderful.
This year’s addition to the line of knitted baubles 🧶 I picked socks for the colourwork to mark a surprise flurry of sock designs I’ve published this year. And also in honour of the pair my partner made me as his first knitting project 🥰
Lurgy-afflicted, so for the next couple of days there will be lots of sitting in bed and on the sofa, surrounded by one of more of these Christmas sock projects. I am nearly 1 out of 8 socks down. Wish me luck? 😊🧶
