It takes some gall for a washed-up old man with visible alcohol withdrawal shakes to stand beside another old man that can't control his bowels and was dead asleep and lecture us why he's supporting ending vaccine protection for our children so that a significant number of them die for no reason.
If there were one classic story that best predicted our present moment in history, in spirit anyway, today's the day to remember it. Ray Bradbury's "There Will Come Soft Rains"
Last year we released a report for the 10th Anniversary of the 709 Crackdown (against rights lawyers in China) highlighting why it's still important to remember. It's important to stand up for rights lawyers so they can stand up for us. #709Crackdown www.asianlawyers.net/statements/2...
HRN gave an oral statement to the Human Rights Council on the Ukraine war condemning Russia's civilian attacks, child abductions, coerced deployment of foreigners & other war crimes. We call on the international community to seek accountability & intensify pressure on Russia to end the war. #ukraine
Not only are kids not reading well anymore, since about 8 months ago, there have been more AI-generated books released on Amazon than human-written books. God help us.
We're in an era of talk of existential risks. This is the one that concerns me. www.facebook.com/lizamay/post...
I don't think I've ever become more quickly obsessed with a character than I did when I saw Hacker T. Dog today. I only wish Hacker & Triumph could meet someday, except that they target pretty opposite demographics, to say the least, so I don't think it can happen.
Asian Lawyers Network has released a joint statement calling for the release of arbitrarily detained human rights lawyer Yu Wensheng. www.asianlawyers.net/statements/2... #YuWensheng #China
Human Rights Now has released a statement calling for the government of Israel to immediately repeal its death penalty law against Palestinians.
I wish this were authentic, then it'd be like one of those cries from the void. At this point I could believe anything can happen.
If Hegseth was hoping to create an impression of a stability, respect, authority, reason, and confidence, then somebody let him know that a military purge is creating the opposite impression for all of those things.
Reminds me of that time the markets reacted to his tariffs in real time, prompting this video which has become the defining image I have of everything this guy does now.
Chad Schaefer genned the image on the left, and my gen + hand-edit on the right was the most effort I've put into a meme in a while in response. The things we do for the zing.
HRN has released a statement forcefully protesting the attacks by the US and Israeli governments against Iran.
