One day later, and the scene around the Golden Handle (Sinus Iridum) has changed with the arc of the Jura Nountains no longer looking detached from the rest of the #Moon. #astronomy
Tonight’s waxing gibbous #Moon featured the Golden Handle, the illuminated cliffs of theJura Mountains (Montes Jura), 4 to 5 days before full moon phase. The mountain front appears as an almost detached bright arc with the Bay of Rainbows (Sinus Iridum) in darkness to the east. 🔭

Lundbreck Falls on southern #Alberta’s Crowsnest River was flowing strongly from mountain meltwater and recent rains.

Oof. CME impact has (at least initially) a north polarity, meaning that despite all other parameters being favourable for #aurora, we may not get a strong visual show. #astronomy
