With so many delays, I've been DYING to sink my teeth into a RPG while I was off from work this week. So I finally decided to try Diablo IV for myself and I've been having a blast! I finished the base game on my rogue and I'm now starting the Vessel of Hatred expansion! #gaming #diablo #rogue 😈🏹🔥

It feels like XBOX has been having a identity crisis. They tried to pivoting to a new audience as an entertainment center that would replace your cable box. This alienated A LOT of gamers and I'd argue XBOX never fully won them back. Too many broken promises, studio closures, and cancelled games. 🎮

Less talked about is how during the pandemic, everyone was at home playing video games. Investors saw this spike and poured billions into gaming. But video games, unlike other forms of entertainment, take YEARS to develop and that lack of short term turn around burned a lot of venture capitalists. 🎮

Game Pass feels like it was an attempt to chase the "holy grail" that was a Netflix style subscription service for gaming. No doubt conceived when streamer services were making hand over fist and before it was widely known that these services were money pits that valued quantity over quality. 🎮

Spencer tried to match Sony's library of first party titles by buying up studios both big and small to reaffirm XBOX was a video game console first! But despite the buyouts, acquisitions, and takeovers, they never found their "killer app" that would convince you to buy an XBOX over a PlayStation. 🎮
