After several days of wildfire smoke, it was so nice to experience clear skies in the wetlands of Copeland Forest. All depends on the wind direction. Thank you for advocating for traffic cones, Tom. I use them to "try" and calm traffic. The ones at my crosswalk on Highway 93 get beat up by drivers pretty good. The way I look at it, traffic cones can be replaced. Children cannot be replaced. 🚸

Was going through photos I took while running a race a few weeks back. This Eastern White Cedar was too beautiful to not take a photo. I don't run the races to have the fastest finishing time. Trail race courses are often very beautiful, so I'll take it all in. I get my money's worth that way. 🏃♂️🌳🦋

Happy #NationalPollinatorweek. What a great turnout with this passionate group of gardeners as part of this Monarch Ultra special event. They cleaned up all the Nicholls Oval pollinator gardens, added some new native plant species & even found a wren’s nest in the middle of the garden! #pollinator
It is always an honour to be a board member of the Monarch Ultra. In 2019 it started as a 4,300km running relay from Canada to Mexico following the migratory path of the monarch butterfly. Each year we're creating more awareness events. This one is on the 1st day of #NationalPollinatorWeek. 🦋🐝🌼
My backyard has rewilded itself to the point that I need to carefully walk the grass over the septic system to check for wildlife before I trim any grass. Yesterday I spotted this painted turtle. #rewilding #turtlle
1/2 Scientifically, everything living is created from what has died. Every element of our bodies has been recycled endlessly from ancestral beings & will continue to live on in future generations. Part of the much larger stream of life that began with creation & extends long beyond ourselves.
White trilliums are in their glory right now. Their time blooming is very short. So I enjoy them by spending time in the woods as much as I can.

This cupcake that a teacher gave a at my crosswalk was part of her lesson plans. The lesson was listening carefully to instructions. Mrs. Steingard made a big batch of cupcakes, 1 for everyone in class & one for me. Unlike all the others, there was only 1 with orange icing to match my orange gear.

With the 1st snows in early November, by April I am looking for signs of spring. Though everything still looks dormant, there are more and more days that creep above freezing. Nature is slowly arousing from its sleep. On Tuesday I spotted this vivid moss peeking through the snow in the forest.

You are amazing, John. Well done. Thank you. It really does draw in the insects and the birds to feed on them. Although this was taken in the winter, I've left a couple of downed trees for that reason. Have even had a couple of neighbors offer to cut up the wood. But I politely decline. 😊
Ice remaining on the Great Lakes is still quite thick. Icebreaker ships are now in operation to break up the lake ice. Breaking ice helps prevent the formation of ice jams, which can cause flooding in nearby coastal communities. As well as reopening shipping channels. www.canada.ca/en/canadian-...
