On the www.energydashboard.co.uk/live website you can select historical data from the toolbar at the top, then select 'All data' instead of the default 1d or 2 d (days) option at the top of the graph. It will then show you data from 2009 onwards. It looks like demand may now be level-ish.

Nice to see a broad stripe of wind energy contributing about 58% of UK electricity generation in the last 2 days. Also solar contributing big chunks of generation during the day (8% of generation overall) and its only April and a bit cloudy. Imports quite low at 3.7%.

A big result for the Greens. Yay !

Gorton and Denton by-election result. Greens win with 14980 votes, Reform second with 10578, Labour third with 9364 votes. Conservatives and Lib Dems both lost their deposits with less than 2% of the vote each.

Just finished Sally Coulthard's book: A brief history of the countryside in 100 objects. I must say what an endlessly interesting book it is. Packed full of historical information and thought provoking as to how we proceed in our stewardship of it.

Ember reports that EU electricity generation from wind and solar (30%) has now exceeded generation from fossil fuels (29%) for the first year. Yay ! Let's race to ditch the expensive, dirty, polluting fossil fuels as soon as possible.

Now near midday in the UK it's sunny and windy, so figures from mygridgb.co.uk show gas is only contributing 6.4% of electricity generation. Wi.nd 39.9% Solar 33.3%

It's been a good year for finding fungi in the woods. Unfortunately I'm no expert and find the fungi guides I have difficult to interpret. Anyone know a good guide to fungi ?
