5 of 5 cyclists, including me, out going places at 6:30 am were masked up. I guess we've adapted. #climatechange #wildfire #fuckcapitalism
In "trivial consequences of a wildfire" I'm thinking it's 50-50 that the Bull Run Watershed tour I'm supposed to go to on Saturday will be cancelled. All these places I've camped and hiked in the red zone....
From my friend's driveway 3 hours ago. I think they are evacuating (with horses and dogs literally in tow)
Counting ppl who arrive at the community center by bike for @pbotinfo.bsky.social . Thinking it could be really nice if Parks had loaner bike locks if you forgot yours. Also half the ppl I've counted so far have been kids arriving on their own which is spectacular.
Portland Willamette riverfront 2020 at 8am. Along with the herb bath we were steaming to try to pull some of the odor out of our indoor air
New PDX is gorgeous. And yet there's a noticeable lack of drinking fountains & those that do exist are tucked around corners & under stairs. It's noticable & annoying.
Something about groups of 11ish year olds playing on their own brings me such joy. And hope.
Just this week we started planning two camping trips on nfs land for next month. Will the head of the metolius even be accessible to my kids at my age?
The slow build of rage as I stood in line for the bathroom at Providence Park at a women's soccer match & missed the start of the 2nd half as the men had zero inconvenience to their bladder or their recreation. If we're not smiling and aren't 'nice' it's because we've had it. Also Go Thorns.
Todays #dailypicturegame word is NOISE Tomorrows word is PATH Falling water is constant but shifting noise
Todays #dailypicturegame word is ROUGH Tomorrows word is SPRING West Coast North American beaches can be rough underfoot
I went hiking today. On one hand feel guilty for not knowing what happened today. On the other it filled my tank and I think I'm gonna need that forest fuel.
Cherry and pumpkin pie with cherries from Parkdale and pumpkin from the Willamette Valley. Oh and heck flour milled by Bob's Red Mill. Celebrating Oregon abundance. #piesky
Oh the irony of nearly getting left hooked riding the new SW 4th bike lane on the way to this author event (& then 2 blocks later have someone tell me I should be wearing brighter clothes). But I'm here, out of the house. @bikeportland.org @bikeloudpdx.bsky.social
The answer to how many trick or treaters do we get at the new place is zero. :(
When we were in Puglia Italy it was confusing & also really cool to see how similar in color the caper flower is to the passion fruit flower.
So I'm supposed to go wilderness backpacking this weekend. Permit not issued because I wouldn't either if I was a NPS ranger. Plus when "leadership" puts out a nonsensical msg like this on the website... Small potatoes compared to not getting paid, but is it wrong to expect more from my govt?
