My daughter & I were in Vegas last year to see the Dead at Sphere & we booked a kayak day trip on the Colorado River (Evolution Expeditions). Fun day.
The peoples house looks like a toddler got his hands on a label maker & the key to his parents liquor cabinet.

@amandacarpenter.bsky.social DC is the peoples city & is celebrated in many ways. Touch a monument, put feet into fountains, immerse yourself in the magnificence of our country. Denying people this is wrong. As a kid we went to DC, met our Rep & took a pic (I'm the tall one). Wouldn't happen today.
Kinda wonder about all those memes where Trump is so chummy with Jesus are true, why would he allow such miserable weather? OTOH, I'm a ne're-do-well from way back so probably deserve the weather where I live.
Won't mislead you, there are gators in Fla but not everywhere. Respect them & keep a safe distance & you're OK. With maga, there's no safe distance 🤣. Pic is on the Turner River (I'm the 1 in pink). You'd like the 10,000 Islands (they're gorgeous), never seen one there & we go every year.
Everglades National Park has a series of chickees spread across the park for camping. They're platforms on the water accessible only by kayak & when you're out there above the water, it's glorious. Pictured is my favorite, Pearl Bay chickee.

@radiofreetom.bsky.social Don't know what closed it but Muscatuck was huge mental facility in Indiana. Feds took over & turned it into an urban training center. It's where the bin Laden team trained (pic). I spent time there training the military & it's a cool facility (from a civilian viewpoint).
We're heading down Holmes Creek (a gorgeous paddle) & my buddy is giving me the history of the area. He asks if I ever heard of Vernon, which I hadn't, then he launched into the story. Totally bonkers, great paddle though.

We were paddling down river from the headspring & saw a island in a notch full of anhinga nests. I paddled over to get a pic & found the wood ducks (anhinga chicks pic below). As usual on the Silver, manatees, gators, turtles & herons. Never seen a beaver in the wild (wife doesn't like to camp🤣).
Since we're on wildlife. Paddled the Silver River this weekend & came across this beauty (a wood duck).
Kudos, few people know groups of pelicans are called squadrons! Fun pelican fact: White pelicans are double the size of the more common brown pelican with a wingspan of up to 10'. They Winter in the Everglades (where I kayak\camp & see them). Pic is Gullivan Key in the 10k Islands Wildlife Refuge.
