South Carolina is now the first state in the nation for the Democratic Primary and this just ran in The State, the newspaper of Columbia, South Carolina. Come out to the rally and lobby day next week in Sac and help get our legislators to undo the cuts! actionnetwork.org/events/emerg...
There are more people in the @rideact.bsky.social and @sfmta.com buses in this pic than in all the cars. If we don't pass the Regional Transit Measure this November we're going to have less bus service throughout the Bay and traffic (and air quality) will get worse for all
I know this is a 60 year-old gripe, but kinda wild that the Oakland Arena and BART were both designed and built in the early 60's AND it's an 11 minute walk from one to another. I wonder how that compares to other stadium/transit transfers in the US?
Taking @rideact.bsky.social to @bart.gov to a SF Unicorns Cricket match is an underrated East Bay adventure
So grateful for the people who fought for and won BART to Berryessa and protected bike ways that cover (almost) the entire route from BART to SJSU campus! Made it so much easier for me to get to my workshop at MTI. Here's to more efforts & victories for all press.princeton.edu/books/paperb...
We had more people at a recent flash protest against Gov Newsom's cuts to transit, affordable housing, clean air and clean water programs!
Just went to a punk show and march against cuts to @bart.gov. great time by Oakland City Hall! Missed the fun? Come rally against cuts to public transit & affordable housing Wednesday in SF! actionnetwork.org/events/emerg...
Absolutely love getting tagged by friends and other readers of my book on their posts about where they're reading If You Want To Win, You've Got To Fight: A Guide To Effective Transportation Advocacy. Thanks Elle for the pic in Marrakech!
"This book isn't about being miserable, it's about fixing the things that make us miserable." And if people are like "yeah, I'm already pissed off and want to take action" feel free to jump to chapters 4-7 (but good to circle back to 2 & 3)
Agreed! There is a time and a place for studies, but as many great activists say in Chapter 1 -- lack of studies aren't the reason our movement loses fights.
Amazing time being one of a whole bunch of folks at Viva Calle collecting signatures to help save BART, Caltrain and drastically expand bus service in Santa Clara County! Get involved & join the fun www.transbaycoalition.org/regional-tra...
TIL that train travel time between Sacramento (pop ~530k) and Fresno (pop ~550k) is comparable to driving time between the two cities I wonder what other pairings of cities of over 500k in the US are in a similar situation
Sometimes transit activism is about metaphorically coloring outside the lines and dreaming up new possibilities... Sometimes it's literally coloring in the lines My book doesn't talk much about the importance of paint pens but there's other good stuff there! press.princeton.edu/books/paperb...
Other times it looks like this! (Ran into some LARPers while signature gathering. They invited me and my fellow signature gather to join in and obviously we said yes)
Sometimes transit advocacy entails being in a river of people & gathering signatures to get a transit-funding measure on the ballot
Just spotted @caltrain.com in Oakland! Not sure what that's about but feels like a special transit history moment! (I'm pretty sure Link21 didn't get built while I wasn't paying attention)
Bus lane on the Bay Bridge is still a good idea actionnetwork.org/petitions/go...

If you want to win half a billion dollars in funding for transit, you need to fight for it 😁😁😁(This book will show you how) You will lose fights along the way, but you can make them stepping stones to a larger victory islandpress.org/books/if-you...
