Described as having blue-black dorsal scales, with some specimens having a reddish-orange to tan color on the throat, cheeks, and chin. This snake received its common name from the glossy, iridescent dorsal and ventral scales, which can be seen as blackish-purple in bright light.

The family is getting into snorkeling, so we stopped in Deland at De Leon Springs to practice and chill out. Great park I wish we had more time to do the hiking trails. But the water was so cool and refreshing, it was hard to leave.

We also did a beach day on coco beach, was happy to see lots of sea turtle nests. We also visited the Dinosaur Museum, which was neat because it had a lot of unique little fossils. I wanted to sit and draw them all.

I just got back from a mini vacation and trip to the space coast and coco beach with the family! It was trip filled with science and nature! We did Kennedy Space center and saw Atlantis!

Today, the Annamite Mountains are ranked as the world’s most important bioregions, hosting one of the Earth’s highest concentrations of endemic species for a continental area. Researching the Saola also helps animals like the large antlered Muntjac and a new species of leaf monkey. 4/5🧵

Digital illustration of the Nubian Giraffe. The Nubian giraffe’s height can range between 16-20 feet (males) and 14-16 feet (females), with males being generally taller and heavier. They can weigh between 2,400 and 3,000 pounds (males) and 1,600 and 2,600 pounds (females). With its long neck and legs, the Nubian giraffe has an impressively tall and elegant stature. Despite having such a long neck, like all giraffes, the Nubian giraffe has seven neck vertebrae, the same number as humans. The vertebrae are, however, much larger and linked by ball-and-socket joints for added flexibility.

Their most notable characteristic, the coat, is composed of large, four-sided spots of chestnut brown on a white to cream-colored background. These patches, polygonal in shape, are not as simple and smooth as those seen in other giraffe subspecies but have rough, irregular edges. Another distinguishing feature is their lower legs, which appear to be ‘stocking-like’ due to the absence of patterns.

I believe we spotted a Broad winged hawk juvenile over the weekend. ( I'll toss it out to the bigger bird nerds to say otherwise. 😅) A group of mockingbirds was chasing it, which is how we were alerted and saw it up in our tree. Stayed long enough for me to try and snap its photograph.

🐍 Snake Sticker Mockupssss!

Discussed last stream, one of my long time goals is to make more positive messaging with stickers going forward! This theme is for World Snake Day which is July 16th this year.

Snakes are highly miss understood and feared animals and to help combat that stigma, I made these snake sticker mock ups. The point of World Snake Day is to help educate and save a snake rather then fear and kill on sight. Knowing what snakes are venomous vs non, what to do if you see one ( fun fact its leave it alone )

Now weather or not I can get some of these made up in time is a whole other thing. Another one of my issues is cost. Its roughly 120$ per design if I were to make them as nice as the earth heart stickers. So I probably could only manage making 2 atm on my own.

So here is where your brain bits come in! If you wouldn't mind voting on 2 of your favorite designs that you would personally perchance if you were to do so, use or give to a friend. Would help me get an idea of what designs are most popular in your eyes. I'll be also doing the same on bsky. ^^ Cheers!
