i am consolidating information about the lettuce-based explosive diarrhea outbreak. My additional thoughts: 1. restaurants have procedures which can support your hygiene routines. Ex: clean and cut fresh vedge, submerge them in water, write today's date on the container, refrigerate, rotate, etc.

recent plant photos are accumulating

this is a luxuriant speciment of tall meadow rue growing out of a dammed brook alongside other opportunistic vegetation. I have one of these plants growing in the shady rearmost garden bed, too.

okay so i have been reading stuff which says/suggests that English ivy isnt good. And observing this patch, where it took over, it seems to be establishing its own monoculture at the expense of species diversity in this area. I might try to remediate this.

i went back outside

here's what im talking about. Lilies and mallows and all kinds of other stuff is all growing together promiscuously. Anything interesting, i let grow, or i plant it in the garden; anything "boring" (grasses, red maples, etc) gets removed. i happen to believe that the resilience of this patch is due to its diversity. Historically, this has been a habitat for both frogs and voles. There's a whole world in there!!

day 2 of Heat Dome and the plants are still fine. I think because there are a lot of native weeds around here holding the soil down and shading it and keeping it moist. Fascinating.

okay, as promised, here are this year's crop of ridiculous evening primroses. They may double in size in this area. They'll attract hummingbirds, also goldfinches. This plant attracts certain insect pests so you can easily remove them (and they leave your roses alone). A good plant.

catnip is flowering, there needs to be High Times for cats, with the centerfold of the month with the biggest and best buds. This might be a mild strain however. Maisie always used to shrug it off. It's true that our pets come to resemble us and vice versa over time, though.

the mallow is back!!! And it put out a BUNCH of shoots, each with multiple flower buds on it! damn, that is unambiguously positive and cool.

i forget what this is. probably could have taken a better picture but FUCK ITTTTT

mints have been coming up, some are struggling, others are taking over. This seems to depend on whether or not the mint has an aggressively spreading neighbor to limit its expansion.

see those two holes? that's where the bridge goes, assuming a stock neck. so i might not have space for floating tailpieces! or trem tailpieces. also the tailpiece needs to play nice with an offset body. i'd rather avoid drilling post holes. Nevertheless, maybe stringthrough-with a metal tailpiece?

this neck joint looks strong enough for a Fender Jazzmaster trem. The tuning keys need to have some barrel-shaped bushings pressed in around them, probably well-greased. I would try the stock/vintage keys, but i think i would need to replace them, ideally with keys which drop in conveniently.
