It was a real treat at the Steam Up to see this machine, purported to be the oldest running cat drive tractor in the world. It’s like driving a building.
Power plant for the sawmill at Antique Powerland, Great Oregon Steam-Up.
Steam Up at Antique Powerland, Brooks, Oregon. Runs this weekend and next, fun for the whole family!
Recent hauls from the over-run bin at the sticker shop. I really want to understand the nosferatu one.
My favorite improvement to the pollinator garden (mint patch) by the back door is this little watering station. An old Buffalo china saucer and some good rocks, keep a water bottle handy on the steps and just give it a splash on my way in and out.
Stepped back in time for a minute at the venerable Driftwood Room, a gold standard for hotel lobby bars.
I’m at a Portland Thorns game for no particular reason but it’s nice and fun.
Actually got my shit together to clean out the old raised beds and see if I can get another harvest out of them. Mostly peppers this year, going to work on some fermented hot sauces.
The old oregano patch is looking particularly lush and dense this year. I need to remember to dry some, though there’s really only a couple months I can’t just pick it fresh.
Good backyard birding today: resident Bewick’s wren poking around the slash pile while I worked a few feet away, all the juncos flashing tails fighting over the prime real estate over the burger cart, bushtits foraging in the fir and a surprise Swainson’s thrush.
Lots of his early supporters knew Tulsi was a fascist in 2016 and yet…
Refinishing a teak patio set $100 from Facebook, hubby had to pick it up in Vancouver for his sister. Very weathered and gray to start but a little sanding and teak oil really helped brighten it up.
Even though I haven't had to do color swatch matching in a while, still got the knack for hue, but always a little off on the saturation. Fun little game if you're rusty on color work.
Didn't get up at 3AM to watch live, and the replay isn't available yet, but cheated by checking the score and we get to use the official Finnish emoji for beating Sweden in hockey! SUOMI!
I think another good question a good reporter might ask here is what the fuck a bunch of PMC goons were doing in Eureka during this time. And who at Six Rivers National Forest signed off on $1M of their measly budget for ... what exactly?
Nice day to visit my favorite stubby little lighthouse. Cape Meares, OR.
Haven’t been able to get Alpenfire cider in Oregon forever so when this special order showed up on the shelf at The Place we went a little nuts.
A friend in Cascade Locks is selling her place that's just feet from the PCT! It's got a shed out back that can be used to store gear sent ahead and everything! www.zillow.com/homedetails/...
Top 10 first watches of 2025. (I don't get to theaters at all and mostly use the library streaming services) Once Upon a Time in Anatolia was such a delightful surprise. A bunch of newer speculative fiction that lived up to the hype, and solid auteur character studies.
Here's a sample of some the recent reviews of the resort. The owner also responds to all bad reviews with personal attacks. I can totally see why he feels entitled to a big government contract.
