A warm hand landed on her shoulder, pushing her down from her toes. Once more, Thor reached over her and plucked the fruit from its branch. He held out the fruit for her to take, the smallest of smirks tugging on the corner of his lip.

"Of all things, I had not expected the Arthur King to be bested by a fruit," he admitted.

"Not all of us can be over seven feet tall," Morgan grumbled, reaching for the apple in the Aesir's hand. "I'm magical, not divine."

As she wrapped her hand around the fruit, however, he retracted his arm, pulling her towards him until their chests met. He leaned over her, his copper blonde hair casting shadows over his face.

"I would argue otherwise, Your Majesty."

Morgan felt her face turn red as she snatched the fruit from his hand, turning away from him sharply enough to smack the god in the face with her ponytail. "Don't be daft."

Thor chuckled. "As you say, Your Majesty."

A quick guide to Artificial Sunflowers - Adult Scifi Romance WIP

The Pitch: When chemist Erin Raincrow discovers her employer means to use her fertilizer formula to create chemical weapons, she runs away with the super soldier clone that came to kill her. But their solarpunk PNW safe haven can only keep them hidden for so long, and Erin finds herself dragged into a conflict between mega-corporations and the secret super soldier mercenaries that have been their pawns for decades.

Excerpt: The knife had to be sharp, because the initial incision didn’t hurt as much as she’d expected. Then, the tweezers slipped under her skin, and Erin bit harder on the cloth. No screams, thankfully, but whimpers and heavy breathing filled the air as J-097 fished the chip out from under her skin. It took longer than she’d expected – or maybe it would be better to say hoped – it would. She couldn’t see the room past the tears rolling freely down her cheeks.
“I know, I know,” he murmured, words gentle even though it couldn’t make up for what his hands were doing. “We’re almost there.”
She felt him tug the chip free, grateful for its smooth edges. The pain didn’t stop, but it did fade, at least until he pressed the gauze against the open wound. She whimpered into the washcloth again.
“You did good, sunshine,” he told her. “You did so good. Didn’t scream once.”
“Are you…” She swallowed thickly. “Are you sure I won’t need a suture or anything?”
“Shouldn’t,” he said, lifting the gauze to check the incision. “I got some butterfly bandages. Should work well enough.”
He busied himself with dressing her wound, and Erin made herself busy with watching him. His fingers were rough with work and hardship, but gentle. So much about him was surprisingly gentle, soft almost.
“Were you a medic unit?” she asked quietly. “Is that what the J series were?”
He seemed to hesitate then, hand lingering as he made a loop of gauze around her palm. “No. No, J series units were regular infantrymen.”
“Oh.” She felt a little silly for asking. “You’re very good at it.”
