She died of cancer at age 47 years old long before I was born. Even though we never got to meet, I’ve always admired the few photographs of her that remain. She seems frozen in time a mysterious figure. Apparently she loved classic Hollywood. I like to think she was with me tonight.
My great grandmother Grace Egleson had a similar blouse from the 1930s and somehow it got passed down to me. I wore it tonight in her memory.
There’s an exercise scene in the film where the characters played by Joan Fontaine and Rosalind Russell are with a private trainer. They are wearing exercise blouses and if you look closely you can see their initials are embroidered on them.
Tonight I met up with some friends and saw THE WOMEN at the @newbeverly I also took my great grandmother with me in a manner of speaking.

This past Saturday I was in the middle of giving the cemetery tour when a man approached me. I was a bit startled and then he handed me a bag of these magnets he made with my image on them. I feel badly that I didn't get to properly thank him. I am always grateful when people appreciate my work.
. I tried to get a photo of myself wearing my t-shirt with Close-Up, but he has not been in a cooperative mood today. I tried!!
My dear friend @reallybethann.bsky.social is suggesting that we have a “Pre-Code Girl Summer” and that sounds like a great idea to me. Beth has a launched a whole line of products including t-shirts, stickers, mugs, totes and more. You can order them on Threadless.
I highly recommend reading the biography “Dark Carnival: The Secret World of Tod Browning, Hollywood’s Master of the Macabre” by David J. Skal and Elias Savada. Many of Browning’s films are in DVD, so please seek them out. 🦇🕸️🕷️
A friend gifted me these zombie seed packets. I planted them in a box in my alley garden and they are already growing! I wasn’t able to get video, but when you touch them they close up and play dead. Then they come back to life exactly as advertised! This is so darned cool. 🧟♀️🪴
She was vilified in the press and sadly lies and rumors about her persist to this day. For the most accurate information on this case, please read the book “Room 1219” by Greg Merritt.

Yesterday I attended a Fourth of July party and I made a coconut cream pie. I stated putting the shredded coconut on top of the pie in stripes and accidentally made the French flag! 🇫🇷 I decided to just go with it. Vive la France!
Happy Fourth of July from Veronica Lake, Rita Hayworth and Esther Williams. 🧨🎆🇺🇸
The other night I visited @philippetheog again for dinner with friends. It was founded in 1908 and is a beloved Los Angeles gem.

In 2021 I did an episode of Hollywood Kitchen about Ann Blyth and made her recipe for blueberry muffins. My friend Barbara sent her a note about the episode. She wrote back and said she’s glad to know the recipe still works. How cool is THAT? She was a wonderful actress and will be greatly missed.

If you know or suspect someone might be having a tough time, send them a message, text or pick up the phone and call. A little act of kindness can mean the world to someone who is hurting. (This photo is from “The Shining”.)
