Good morning! Today's (re)read is Family Life: Birth, Death and the Whole Damn Thing by Elisabeth Luard #booksky
Good afternoon! Today's read is A Spoonful Of Jam by Michelle Magorian, a sequel to her A Cuckoo In The Nest. #booksky
Good afternoon! Today's read is The Girl Who Wouldn't Make Friends by Elsie J. Oxenham. I'm about halfway through and it is EJO meets Famous Five meets a slightly hysterical moment where one girl drives a car at several other young people and essentially tries to run them off the road (1909 drama!!)
Good morning! Today's read is Spring Comes To World's End by Monica Dickens.
Good morning! I will be getting rid of these by the end of the week but if you're interested and would like to make me an offer, please do feel free to bob me a private message (I like the books to go to good homes, it's a thing).
Good morning! Today's read is Mega Robo Bros - Final Form by Neill Cameron. (FURRY WILLIAM) (iykyk) #booksky
when your blog reminds you that you've been on brand for a while (didyoueverstoptothink.com/2016/07/12/l... for those interested).
This little stormer entered the world 4 years ago. Thank you to everyone who believed in her & to every single reader. I am so grateful for this adventure! (and if she's new to you, pop her on your tbr! I guarantee cakes, Paris, and Best Friends Forever adventures!). @pushkinchildrens.bsky.social
How To Be Brave is four years old today. Four years!!!!!! This journey has been such a delight Thank you if you've read, supported, reserved, shared, my books and a thousand thanks to those of you there from the very start. I appreciate it all enormously. You are infinitely wonderful. ❤️
Good afternoon! Today's read is an interesting thing. It's a collection of short non-fic ("some thirty letters") on the countryside for London kids off on their hols. First published in 1939, this is the 1947 reprint. It's more than a little dry at times but there's still an odd charm to it #booksky
Good morning! Today's read is The Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff (and then I'll do The Silver Branch and The Lantern Bearers which are in this bindup edition). #booksky
and also Shocks for the Chalet School didyoueverstoptothink.com/2017/05/08/s...
ditto The Chalet School In The Oberland didyoueverstoptothink.com/2014/08/24/t...
I enjoyed reading The Feud In The Chalet School a lot didyoueverstoptothink.com/2016/07/29/t...
Good morning! Today's read is That Woman by Anne Sebba, a biography of Wallis Simpson.
I am going to add the Pennington books by KM Peyton. #kidsbookfriday. They are a rather brilliant exploration of masculinity, first and world-changing love, and what it means to have a wild talent and not know what to do with it. Peyton finds the absolute elasticity of a page and revels in it.
Good morning! Today's read is Elon Musk : American Oligarch by Daryl Cunningham. I love Cunningham's work - his graphic biographies are excellent things - so I'm very much looking forward to this.
Good afternoon! Today's read is When The Storm Comes by Polly Ho-Yen
Good morning! Today's read is Chin Up Chest Out Jemima by Mary Cadogan which I'm revisiting for a paper I have to deliver soon.
Good morning! Today's treat is from the 1891 New York Herald (London ed.) and features WOMEN writing for WOMEN about NEW AND INTERESTING THINGS FOR WOMEN (I enjoy this sort of vibe very much) (but also I wonder if the actual author of this was an actual woman so I might have to go and figure it out)
(and after that will be Young Hag by the GREAT Isabel Greenberg whom I have admired entirely since Glass Town which is an absolute banger of a graphic novel about the Brontës and you should read it very much, yes - didyoueverstoptothink.com/2020/02/18/g...).
Good morning! Today's read is Arcana: The Lost Heirs by Sam Prentice-Jones. I was in a new library yesterday so naturally I raided all of their comic books before leaving 💪
Your occasional reminder of Deborah Kerr's swimsuit in From Here To Eternity and the fact I would like to write thirteen hundred thousand words about it
Doing a bit of a bank holiday cleanup and have these for sale - shoot me a message if you're interested, thank youuuuu
