Not even a smug snake with a crown and two staffs complete with two extra, smaller snakes. May be a smug woman without crowns or staffs, lacking even small snakes. Have dogs and opinions, which seems less cool.
Charlie thinks I should turn the sun off. He is wearing a wet tea towel, and I think he pulls it off. anyone else got a #hotdog cooling off?
the Grant biography I was excited about arrived. Holy shit it’s huge. I may need to get the ebook version just to read it without my arms hurting carting it about…
I would take that bargain in a heartbeat though- the services you see and get in germany make everything feel richer…
Ffs. I know I’m old now because I’m all in my day we had onions on our belts… but like the original skinheads were terrible people but they had a dress code and it was stylish.
Anyway, here is my ‘Not a translation of Wang Wei’s Deer Park: Or ‘Fallow Arhat’ by me, Laura Heron. (Yes that is the most pretentious pun in the world- I’m not sorry)
Anyway, I would welcome anyone’s undoubtedly more insightful thoughts of Dokkodo. I recommend Kenji Tokitsu’s book, although I’m only halfway through (it’s a big book!) I like the insight of martial arts practice he brings to the analysis. Also I learned Musashi is really good at painting ducks.
Had a friend over and helped her with her vintage sewing machine. It was so satisfying but honestly I just want to read more about this dude… dog is apparently also interested… he won’t be when he finds out ‘Dokkodo’ means the way of walking alone… he aims to always be this close to me.
This arrived today, so excited. Still reading the introduction but so far it seems what I was looking for- a look at Musashi’s life and his work put into context of the time, culture and with the understanding of a modern martial arts practitioner.
This book of translated poems of Chinese poet Li Po came today. Two of the poems, both about drinking, both very Li Po, however mood and time very different. Makes me wonder just how long it would take me to learn Tang Dynasty Chinese and enough literature to fully understand them…
Just posted this non ironically in my group therapy WhatsApp. I think I should win the best group therapy participant of the month award this month. No one tell me it doesn’t exist I’m clearly trying for it.
