Reminds me of my boy Dashiell, who was a feral kitten who lost his bonded brother and needed another cat to socialize him. He went from afraid of everything to demanding belly rubs.

Abstract
Sources of the sixteenth century show a very high level of daily violence in the streets of Rome. The Romans almost always solved their conflicts with violence instead of appealing to the courts. They obstinately refused to cooperate with the papal authorities and they even were ready to leave the city for a while when individual popes tried to force other forms of conduct on them. Those Romans who were willing to cooperate with the authorities as well as members of the police force became the victims of a sharp social ostracism. In this climate of violence, arms were seen by the population as a means of individual survival, but by the authorities as one of the causes of violence.

I was at a hotel in Langkawi Malaysia that had these tigers on every balcony to keep the monkeys away. The staff moved them every day. Scared the pants off of me one night coming back late at night.
